wow. 360 is leaps and bounds above in most of these! The level of detail is far better with 360 (last fallout example, first Star Wars: The Force Unleashed example) Lighting + Shadowing is far better in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Some things are a little bit stylistic though, like saturation and contrast, in which I still vote for 360. I have both, don't get me wrong. My 360 even just red ring'd, but I still have to vote for it. Some of the shots aren't very fair too. The last example in the Call of Duty pics... it looks better on the ps3 partially because it was just a better picture aesthetically. PS3 was mid-blast, Xbox 360 was clouds settling. What's more exciting to see? An explosion or the aftermath clouds? :)
There are lots to consider when comparing these, including different models looking better than others (on either system) and whether or not that good model is on screen. I cannot say either one is superior because with each picture in this comparison I was saying “ps3, xbox 360, ps3, ps3, xbox 360, xbox 360, ps3, xbox 360”… in other words, it’s a tie game in my mind. Assassin's creed looks much more natural on the ps3. Orange box seemed to have more details in the distance but it also looked super blurry on the blow-ups. It seems ps3 may have better anti-aliasing but it really seems to come down to the developers and if they want to push the system and risk low frames or not. GTA IV looked almost identical, and call of duty each had its pros and cons too (lighting/shading for ps3, crisp models for xbox 360). Burnout looks identical, and the speed you race at… you’ll NEVER notice the difference. RSV2 looks almost desaturated on the PS3, and NFS pro street has a bunch of models missing on the PS3 version. Now I own a 360 and don’t own a PS3, so I may be a little bias, but the PS3 is only “better” than the 360 in one aspect, blu-ray versus HD. Video game Graphics are an endless war between these too simply because they are too f***ing close to evaluate.
