3570K + Silver arrow
AsRock Extreme 6
EVGA 680 GTX
G.Skill 4x4Gb 1600Mhz Cl7
Samsung 830 256Gb
Bitfenix Colossus

I think that'll do for the next couple of years. RAM may be a bit overkill, but at least I can leave photoshop+lightroom open when playing.

Thanks for the help, would have made huge mistakes without help.

Thanks for the answers, after these and few other advices, the situation has changed quite a bit.

GPU stays the same, but CPU has changed to 3570K. 100? is a bit much to pay for a 1fps increase and I doubt I'll be doing much that would benefit from hyperthreading.

Mobo will be Z77. Unfortunately EVGA doesn't have Z77's available, so I'll have to switch manufacturer. Anyone got any experiences of AsRock Fatal1ty series? Or any other recommendation?

RAM is still a choise between two, either Kingston HyperX 4x4GB, DDR3 1866MHz, CL9 or G.Skill PC3-12800 / DDR3 1600 Mhz, 4 x 4GB, 7-8-8-24, 1.5V, RipjawsZ
Anyone happen to know how I can count the actual speed of those two?

Thanks for the answers.

Here's another question that came up when I was doing some research:

The mobo I have chosen has P67 chipset, should I swap the mobo for a one that has Z77. Is there any mentionable difference, except the fact that Z77 will work with Ivy bridge? Like I mentioned, I'm biased towards EVGA, and haven't found EVGA Z77 mobos, so switching to Z77 would also mean I would have to get mobo from another manufacturer.

edit: OK, it seems that P67 does support Ivy bridge after BIOS update. Is there any reason left to swap P67 to Z77?

I've pretty much made my mind up about the GPU, CPU, mobo as follows:

CPU: Ivy Bridge i7-3770K, LGA1155, 3.5GHz, 8MB, Boxed
Mobo: EVGA P67 FTW, LGA1155, Intel P67, DDR3, E-ATX
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 SuperClocked+ with Backplate, 2GB GDDR5

I have great experiences about EVGA products, so I like to stick with those. The CPU was selected by comparing Passmark CPU chart score and price, the one above seemed to have the best price/speed ratio.

And here are the questions:

1) I need good RAM. So far I've been using mostly Kingston. Are they still good or is there another manufacturer I should consider?

2) Faster DDR3 memories seem to have quite high latency. Which one matters more? Should I get 2133Mhz CL11 or 1600Mhz CL7?

3) I'm going to get an SSD, but have no experience of those. Any recommendations for a good one?

4) With the parts mentioned above + SSD + 2 HDDs, what size PSU should I get?

Just though I should mention, it's not a brand new computer. Bought it almost immedieately after that processor came out. BTW I got nice price cut cause the mobo has that SATA3 failure, that was one of the main reasons to buy it.

Secondly, I just grabbed another 8800GTS G92 from my friend for 10€, I think that'll be a nice little upgrade. (Don't ask me what it is with me and that card, I just seem to end up with them.)

They actually built a computer with a 2500k and a 210? That is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

GummiRaccoon

Why is that? That computer is excellent for everything except gaming. Original setup went over budget so I had to change something to cheaper version, so I chose cheaper GPU.

It's not a prebuilt. Like I mentioned, it's my parents computer and built for everything except gaming, which is why the budget was used for everything else first and the GPU came last.

Although lately I have visited my parents often enough that I might just go and grab another GPU for them. But thanks for all the answers.

P.S. It plays Terraria!

Some time ago I ordered a new computer for my parents. It's mostly for internet browsing and picture management and has fulfilled this task well enough.

Lately when I have been visiting them, I have been trying to use the computer for gaming (Off-Road Drive, SW:ToR), but the performance is horrible, unplayable actually. I was just wondering is the GPU (NVidia Geforce 210) really this unsuitable for gaming or should I start searching for some other fault in the system. Other harware includes Intel i5-2500K and 4 Gigs of RAM.

As a comparison, my own computer has old 8800GTS G92 and Q6600, which runs the same games quite well.

Also it's important to remember, that WoW was made simple and easy and bland, to appeal to more customers, price for this is that the game lacks complexity. I don't see AoC or WAR taking away that many customers from WoW, rather they'll have their fair share of customers that have already quit WoW due to simplicity (like me) or that never got too interested in WoW for the same reason. That being said, I don't see either of these games as a threat to WoWs place as most popular MMO, nor should they be.

It's good to remember, that huge part of WoWs fanbase are people who have never before played any MMO or even had their own PC. I know lots of people who have never played anything else than WoW. While it's nice that WoW brought so much new blood to the MMO and it's possible that some day those people will turn to more complex MMOs, at the same time it's one of those things that makes WoWs community so childish sometimes.

Patch it before you even think of playing.

Also, don't rush, ttake your time searching the areas, maybe you'll find some nice weapon or armor.

And take good care of your radiation protection and keep away from heavily radiated areas and always keep some anti-radiation drugs or at least vodka available.
