THIS IS OPINION!
Ok, I have Wii. And I happen to be that type of gamer who likes to put my time into more niche games, but I also like to play stuff thats on PS3 and 360; the more serious games, I just finished playing MGS4 and that was an incredible game. But like I said I'm more on the niche side, with small quirky titles. I know alot of you say it's impossible! But I do it, and I consider my self hardcore(I own alot of old consoles, and average up to 100+ in a week)
Nintendo has already said they have stopped focusing on the casual games like Wii Fit and Wii Music. Wii Sports 2 is just a Wii Motion plus show case, Reggie said thats it, the hardcore support is coming, so those gamers who are moving up. Are moving up on Wii. Im gonna go get me some sleep, see you guys.the wii has succeeded in introducing a whole new generation to gaming. when you're new to anything you're going to try the most popular things until you form opinions and tastes on which genres you enjey more. if i was new to gaming i'd be apprehensive to try anything on xbox or ps3 since they dodon't seem as inviting as the titles on the wii. in the next round of consoles these new gamers that the wii have captured will probably have developed tastes in what they enjoy and will be up for trying more complicated games both graphically and gameplay wise.
if nintendo release another wii type console i don't think it'll have nearly as much success as the current wii has enjoyed

[QUOTE="skingus"][QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]The Wii is the reason why the industry is crumbling. Instead of games selling, and with the high costs of these days, people have been bastardised to pure casual and the demand for the real HD consoles has been stunted. In other words, this is the last gen of hardcore gamingFirstDiscoveryAll of the hardcore games are selling like crazy. There is still a huge market for them. What the heck are you talking about? The market has proven that there is a place for hardcore and casual friendly gaming... Do you not think that the somewhat "casual" gamers deserve quality games? Are you gaming God?Go back to the PSone and PS2 gen, ANYTHING sold over a million Nowadays, we have to call a party everytime a game breaks the barrier Anything sold over a million? Really? It's just like the rap industry, which is slowly dying, it's being masked by people who can't get their info right I say: "Rap is losing Popularity" Next guy says:"No it isnt most albums are selling a million" I say: "Don't believe the false numbers industry insiders are pushing to you" Same with gaming, most of the figures you got back then in the PS1 PS2 era were correct, but some of these "Retro numbers" and guys not looking at the stats now days is wrong. When a person is talking about booming game industry I say "Where? in the early 2000's?" Because right about now the liars numbers or the "Quick Numbers" are what they imply, Gears 2 may have sold a crapload in a day but show me the legs months from now, while Wii Play continues to sell top charts. Nintendo tapped into the market for the everyday consumer, that NON GAMER who never played a Video game ever, not that casual or lost hardcore, they tapped into your guy who buys a pair of shoes a week or 2 with his next check, not the hardcore gamer who buys GAMES GAMES GAMES.

Would big franchises from last gen like Onimusha still be around. Would developers have to churn out the same crap because its too risky to make something new? No i thought not... I hope you're joking right? All the blame is going to Nintendo right? No, blame overpriced HD consoles, that developers have to dish out massive ammounts of cash to develop for. MidWay has been is a rutt for a while now. So I guess you're saying, since the Wii is selling so good... PS3 and 360 suffer right? But the contradictory statement is Nintendo is selling to casuals, who have no interest in MSG4, Gears 2, COD4/WaW, Dead Space etc? Thats a different market, if the wanted to buy PS3's and 360's they would have. Hardcore games are still selling good, yeah they are, but not as good as PS2 gen, and why? Because Nintendo has opened the flood gates. Don't blame Nintendo when the higher cost of things are going up, people can't all afford $400 consoles, and $60 games. But like I said the CASUAL market is going after Wii because of casual games if the HARDCORE SCENE has so much legs it would be walking better, like Nintendo said " This market cannot survive solely off of the Hardcore" No market can,. Music industry will not survive without the people who arent actually big music fans Comic book fans alone cannot support the next super hero movie. YOU NEED THAT CASUAL MINOR INTEREST MARKET! And now that Nintendo has tapped that, and has given them their own place, they don't need quick goes at GTA4 for $60 on the $400 system, when the can get Wii and Wii Sports for $250

Lol, PS3? I hardly play mines, after play Uncharted(which was a good game) I have been playing my Wii for months, until I get a 360 on christmas. I'm not interested in Resistance, and I was hyped over LBP until I seen how sloppy the physics were.
LBP best platformer= LMAO! LBP is a glorified level creator, when you wan't platforming talk SMG, or Banjo. SMG carried the platformer by it's self last year, and this year the genre seems to be back on it's dying bed.
PS3's online is a joke... PS3 is nowher near as much fun as the 360's online. Me being a PS3 owner can tell you that, I played other peoples 360's for extended periods of time and I was wowed by how much you could actually do with the 360 and the better online community on 360.
