Slight problem. When I run in 720p the edges of the image are cut off but when I go into 1080p it seems fine but the monitor keeps telling me that it isn't the optimal settting.

Great thread. I'm currently using the VGA for my 360 and already have a sound solution and I've got my pc on the DVI.

I've seen this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HQ-AVSWITCH-10-Port-DVI-Switch/dp/B000GTLFS6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1210548724&sr=1-4

Should do the job fine right?

Oh and I've got Samsung 223bw that looks near identical to the thread starter!

Just joined the ps360wii club myself too.

Could only just afford it so I've only got UT3 and GT5P with Uncharted on its way in the post.

360 is not inferior to ps3.

The ps3's cell processor has 7 cores at 2.8 ghz each. however develpors are using only 2 of the cores, with the third handling system processes (XMB etc.)

The 360 has 3 cores at 2.8 ghz each and developers are again using 2 of them with the third running system processes (dashboard etc.)

The 360's GPU is superior to the PS3's in almost every way. The PS3's GPU is based on the Nvidia G71 chipset, which is dated at this point (used in Geforce 7800 series). The 360's GPU is basedd on the much more recent and more powerful ati r600, which was released a couple of years after the g71.

Game wise the 360 can handle more detailed graphics while the ps3 can handle more amount of ai on screen and such. However at this point the developers are producing games for both systems at equal power. and the only way this will change is for console exclusive games.

Youve got it all wrong. Well, technicly right but you're looking at it wrong.

The PS3 has 8 cores, one if which is perma locked, and one is reserved for system processes. 6 are available for use for games, the fact Devs are only using 2 is testement to how hard the console is to code for. Doesnt change the fact there are still 4 cores floating that people arent using, so the potential is there.

Also bear in mind that the 360 uses its GDDR3 as its ram AND graphics memory at the same time. Whereas the Ps3 has seperate graphics memory but only 256 RAM (although its XDRAM or whatever its called, its stupidly fast)

So both systems have advantages and disadvantages, but from a technical standpoint the PS3 is undeniably more powerful, to try and argue otherwise is simple ignorance.

The potential to use all cores is there but it's not got enough ram to maximise usuage on all cores. In a few years they'll probably just spread the processes of the console across more cores rather than pushing one or two their limits.

[QUOTE="kc9292"]I play on a 19" LCD and it is wonderful...No black bars for meDarthMegalon

A lot of games only have 16:9 widescreen, so regardless of whether you have a 19" ws (16:10) or fs (4:3) you will have black bars due to the aspect ratio.

No black bars on my 22" It's not a perfect image but still no black bars.

Boycotting a game because it's lame? If only then maybe we'd get far less utter ****.

Alas it was never meant to be.

It's on a single Disc. It's just using "magic" compression techniques.

Fallout 1>Oblivion

It's dated but's definitely worth trying out if you enjoyed Oblivion. Morrowind is also worth trying out but it's alot harder to get into.

djrobst

yeah from what my mate tells me stuck on morrowind on his poor pc and what ive read seems like morrowind was a great game with some irratating faults and they fixed them in oblivion. ive had the game since about september/october and im still playing it now regulary for hours and dont feel ive done much and not even close to the end

Well some even prefer morrowind... It's got a few different things that might make a hardcore rpg fan prefer it I suppose.

original fallout series is great dont get me wrong, but its nothing like oblivion.

morrowind was awesome. and its the closest game that is like oblivion.

i loved the original fallout, but it was a 2d 3/4 view turn based gory, light hearted post apocolyptic western rpg. the fallout games are my picks for best western rpgs to ever come out. but it cant compare to oblivion because its so different.

i cant wait for the new fallout though, i think it will be 100 times better than oblivion (if they keep it with fallouts dark humor and all the options the old fallout had)

Well i'm recommending it because it's of such high calibre and it lets you take some choices. etc etc.
