[QUOTE="Schumach5"]Wow, I can't believe how many people are so hung up on Dead Space. I learned my lesson from Bioshock. Just because it's a great story/atmosphere, doesn't make up for the fact that when you're done...you're done. I'll definately rent it, but can't bring myself to buy. Far Cry, according to the developers, has triple the amount of play-time (on single-player alone, not to mention multiplayer).BioShockOwnz
Were you a gamer when single player was the only and most important part of a gaming experience? Some of the greatest classics that people collect to have in their collections come from the NES/SNES/N64 era. The reality is that every game will wear out its welcome, even with the addition of co-op and multiplayer, so you have to pick a fabulous quality experience, or simply go for something else based on the quantity, which is a poor decision, imho, because many times the modes aren't as good as they could've been, since they were pressed for time to finish them all up.
Yes, yes I was. If games were the same price as they were back in the time of those classics, we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place. Money is the issue. If, as you say, all games wear out their welcome...wouldn't it be best to rent the ones with the least amount of playtime? Buying the game does not give the player a higher quality experience. If the discussion is whether or not to buy, I'd certainly cast the vote towards the game with more bang for the buck and rent the lesser of the two. Same experience, wise financial decision.
