1680X1050. It's as high as my old monitor can display.

[QUOTE="stilli1988"]Let me try again. Hi all i'm a recent PC Convert. I converted from the Xbox 360 to this. I'd just thought i'd share a couple of pics and specs. Let me know what you think. Specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte P55A-UD3R DDR3 CPU: Intel Quad-Core i7-870 2.93Ghz 8mb CPU (Includes Twin Turbo up to 3.80 Ghz) RAM: 2 x 2GB Geil DDR3 1600 DVD/CD: 22x Samsung/Sony Writer HDD: Samsung 1TB 7200rpm 32M SATA F3 Hdd + Maxtor Basics Desktop USB Device 640 GB HDD PSU: Aywun Megapower 650w PSU Graphics Card: Gigabyte HD5850 Overclocked Edition 1GB DDR5 Monitor: AOC 2434PW 24" LED LCD OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64-Bitstilli1988

Not bad, should keep you gaming without worry for a couple of years. It's got a limited upgrade path, but nice for a first build.

what is your opinion of the psu? I've been told i should change it out urgently

I agree with GTR2addict, it's not something you should skimp on. My current PSU costs more than my CPU. I've personally never heard of Aywun, so I can't really comment on their longevity or performance. If the PSU decides to do something funky, it's either going to A) die, then you have to replace it B) Surge and then you have to replace CPU, Mobo and ram or C) Start on fire. I'd suggest looking into them more. GTR2addict is also correct stating that a 400W PSU can cover what you have, but I always give myself a little breathing room as it's output tends to drop as it ages. If you want a solid PSU look for something by Antec, Thermaltake or Corsair. If you want same wattage, I'd suggest THIS.

Solid choices. Everything will work fine together. My only suggestion is using this board. It will allow you to run 2 cards at 16x as opposed to one at 16x or two at 8x. Same chipset and has everything else the same as the one you picked out. Depends if you can manage the extra cost though.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about dust filters. They tend to restrict airflow (if only slightly) and are usually a pain to clean. The HAF 932, Antec 1200 or any full tower case made by Lian Li you can afford. It all comes down to price, personal preference and what you like the look of.

Looks like a balanced, well thought out system there with quality components. Especially like the Lian Li case with the Corsair modular PSU. Should last you for two or three builds into the future.

Thanks. I don't think I'll be getting rid of the case any time soon, nicest case I've ever used, just a joy to work in. I notice you also using a Lian Li X1000, that is a very high quality case.

Hey, just figured I'd post my new rig up here

Case: Lian Li PC-A71F

MoBo: MSI 790FX-GD70

CPU: AMD Phenom XII 965 BE

Ram: Corsair Dominator 4GB 1600Mhz (running 8-8-8-24 timings @1.65V)

Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 5870

Power Supply: Corsair HX850W

Otherwise I've just got a 1TB drive and a combo DVD drive. She's running at stock clocks for both the CPU and Video card, I don't see the point OCing it yet. She's got a 3D Mark 06 Score of 18897. And pictures, else it didn't happen.

Tough call. The 5970 is technically the fastest single slot card on the market. You know that it's just 2 5870's downclocked for power and heat savings (meaning 2 5870's are actually faster). If you've got the cash, it isn't a bad choice. The 480, while not as fast, does have some serious heat issues behind it. I'm not saying that it bungs up when it gets going, but it's designed to run at ~90C while under load. Personally, I don't want something I could make tea on while gaming, especially considering that my comp sits a couple of feet away from my head. If you're building a new PC from scratch, consider this; Make it as good as you can right now, but also keep in mind if you want to upgrade it later, the 5970 is only going to be around until the next GPU from ATI comes out, after that good luck finding one.

It is better to have a surface to use your mouse on then just on flat desk. Slight imperfections or if the surface isuneven onthe desk may affect the mouse, but so rarely that it can't really be considered a problem. In my oppinion, I prefer something to put my mouse on rather than just the desk. I have a mouse pad, one of my friends uses a notebook. We both use the exact same mouse (Logitech G7) and it feels almost the same. It really comes down to if you are ok with spending $15 on a mousepad or not, because a $5 will work the same with laser mice.

I'm looking for a game that takes place around 1600-1750's that I haven't tried yet. I'd prefer more of a RPG than RTS. I'm not too concerned how old the game is, just so long as its good. I've already played Age of Sail 2, Sea Dogs, Sid Meiers Pirates! and also played Pirates of the Burnings Sea MMO from release till about this June. If theres a gem out there I've missed, let me know.
