no. the gtx is only 5% better at actual gameplay than the 5870 according to demo given by nvidia themselves. and that's under the best situations, for the most part, it matched the 5870. as for tessellation, nvidia, in the same demo showed that i performed twice as well as the 5870. that's great. unfortunately they left out the part that the program they used only benchmarks tessellation. nothing else. not even realworld gaming. that test was pure bs because the gtx 470 and 480 both use their shader processors to perform tessellation whereas the 5870, hell all ati cards since the x1000 series have dedicated tessellators. this means that when you play a game that has tons of shaders and tessellation, you see performance issues on the gtx 480 or performance equal to the 5870 rather than "twice the performance of the competitor" bs that nvidia is selling. to make things worse, nvidia has incredibly low yields and are selling the card for $600 (down from the original $700). for that price, one can purchase the 5970 and have theoretically twice the performance of the 5870 with a lower power consumption and better cooling.

wow. what a very compelling argument you put up. and so well thought out and full of fact.
btw, i forgot to mention one more fun fact that shows that nvidia is full of ---- with the gtx 480. the unigine heaven demo that they used to demonstrate the tessellation ability of the gtx 480 is not available to the public. they are using version 1.1 which is modified to have nv 3D vision surround. everyone else only gets version 1.0 meaning the 1.1 that nvidia has could have more modifications than just 3d vision surround.
edit:
yep. heaven 1.1 has a 30% performance increase over 1.0 so sayeth one of the creators. link
what this says is that the GTX 480 is the FX5800 2.0.
my no is more relevant than your blind posts, give one single proof that the gtx 480 is going to be like 600 dollar and even the video of Tom shows that its much more than 5% its an up from 20 to 40 average just see the benchmarks. There are even rumors that the 470 could beat the 5870 but i still dont say them as facts i just wait until fermi is really out.
