Note: By the time you're ready, there will probably be new options available, so just keep that in mind.

Just a heads up, make sure you realize how BIG an 18.4 laptop is. I though my 17 was big, and then my brother got an 18.4 for Christmas...MAN its a giant piece of hardware.

I'd build my compact yet powerful ITX rig I've been wanting for the past several years Silverstone Sugo SG07 (with window) Some 1155 mini ITX board, preferably with built in wifi. (Newegg isnt displaying any 1155 boards for me, strange) 2500k Corsair or G.Skill 8GB ram GTX 570, or maybe a 6970 60GB OCZ vertex2 OS drive Corsair H50 (assuming this fits, both the socket and the case) 1TB Samsung F3 DVD drive Re-use my Deathadder and G35, probably add a G110 or whatever keyboard Tiny, but Deadly!

I'm fairly sure 4GB is still the sweet spot for gaming, so if that's what you're doing, that's all you need. I'm not caught up with my 1155 mobos, but MSI usually makes good stuff. I DO know that ASUS has the shiny new EFI BIOS, but thats purely cosmetic.

I get whatever I can afford when I feel the need to upgrade, I also time it for times like right now, when a few gpus have just been released.

Looking at the 6950 from 4670

That'll be a nice upgrade! I love when you fire up a game with a new graphics card, and go look to see the game auto detected High or Enthusiast on every setting :D

I doubt it. Replacing all those parts would cost only a bit less than a new rig, and you'd be on the older AMD socket (I think thats an AM2+?). Plus, most prebuilt cases aren't built to handle the cooling needs of higher end components (and most of them are boring/hideous :P )

The machine I'm posting from is running on that Vertex. Great performance, amazing speeds and enough space for a couple of most used/played apps/games. I can't comment on which is better, but it seems to me that you'd be more likely to run out of PCI slots/space than SATA connections, so I'd save the PCI space for future addons.

So I was having some issue earlier today on my ASUS g50vt while playing EVE online, but I put it down to server load (I was in one of the busiest areas). After I quit, I was having issues connecting to the internet. I went to open devices, and there were 3 "Base System Devices" with the yellow warning sign next to them, as well as one Unknown Device. Earlier, my Logitech g35's randomly BLASTED white noise, but unplugging them fixed that, so it may be unrelated. Any idea what the hell's going on here?

Running Windows 7 64bit on an OCZ 120GB HDD.

Just get the 955 and spend the difference on a cooler if you won't get sandy bridge or wait for bulldozer.
