Just received my Internet back at my new house today, so I'm printing up all the entries and will be reading them over in the next couple of days.  Shouldn't take too long to get a winner announced.

Assuming the net is up at my new place, I'll check out and be sure to comment on your stories. I'm essentually unemployed next week and really don't want to spend the whole bloody thing unpacking.

Why don't you give Script Frenzy a run just4yoshi?  It'd be fun to have another challenger to cheer/deride (motivationally) at various points over the month

I cant wait for monday! Thats when we see the scores! NejiKusa

Well, not on Monday...  I'll be downloading and reading your stories then (assuming that my net connection is setup at my new house for then, it's a bloody holiday here and Bell is a jack-ass so even though it was supposed to be up there a week ago, I somehow doubt it).  I'll be posting the scores, with commentary, as soon as I get through everyone's story.

Heh.  That's a pretty good story.  Feels unfinished though.

I'm still debating whether I should write my zombie story or not. It would probably be on the same level violence-wise as Pirates of the Caribbean, which really isn't that bad and got PG pretty much everywhere but the US.-The-G-Man-

Do it.   Deadline is still a little ways away!

Seems to be pretty common with you.  Might want to get that checked out.  :P

No, it's not judged.  The main competition is more of a "look I did it!" type of thing.  When you have a bunch of people that you know competing, that's when you get the gambling in and race against each other, usually with some interesting bets on the line.  They're a lot of fun to do, and manage to get you to the most important part of any story or script: the end of the first draft.  Most people say they want to write a book or script "some day".  Many even start writing, but they keep going back and editing what little they have done.  ScriptFrenzy and NaNoWriMo are so time-restrictive that you can't go back and do that.  They give you that one thing that "someday" does not: a deadline.  Every year, this propels thousands of people to the end of their first drafts...  Sometimes they chuck'm, sometimes they clean'm up and publish them.

Even easier.  They've a program on the website that auto-counts your script length.  You just use the browse button as you would if you were planning to upload someplace (like an image in your GS profile), find it on your hard drive, and then hit go, and it records your new count.  They don't even keep the scripts (several hundred thousand tends to take up a lot of space).  The competition is just to see if you can do it, and to compete against others in the process.

I know with NaNoWriMo they gave us use of a lot of different software to try out, and discounts to get our novels published at some vanity presses, or to have it fully edited by a professional editor, etc.  Hopefully there's something like that this time around with ScriptFrenzy.  Not sure though, and it doesn't really matter if there is.  Its all about the challenge.

This is a writing union.  This is a post about a script writing competition that people may be interested in.

I understand that the person who wrote the e-mail is actually quite verbose...  And a little crazy in his speech, but you should have a fair idea of the basics by about the third or fourth paragraph in...  Or the part after my second bolded statement.

Sparky tells me he's going to try.  And I'm definitely going to be competing.  I'm hoping to drum up a few more participants that I can race against/with.  These sorts of cram-it-in-quickly contests work better when you've people you know (kinda) to compete with/against.

well ill bet if we had said a pg rating and we meant our system you would assume your system, people are the same everywhere, it doesnt matter what piece of land you live on.NejiKusa

Not true!  See, unlike most people, I check other people's bios, profiles and intros, where they generally mention where they're from, and I use that information to make decisions.   That's how I know that even though Endless is in Europe, he went there from America.  That's also the only way that I know that Hyper is Canadian, and Ether is American.  It's amazing the kind of information you can find with a single click or two.

Forgive me for assuming you live in America :roll:irmeleeman5995

Apology accepted.  Now never insult me like that again! :P

I mean really, how would you feel if I suddenly assumed you were, oh I don't know, Zimbabweyan (or whatever they call people from there.)

Anyhow, this has gone a fair bit off topic.  I see a great many entries in so far, and just wanted to remind everyone that the deadline isn't that far away.  Any posts that come in after midnight ET on the due date, will not be printed and thrown in my pile of stories to read over and grade.

Ah, the American way. Immediately assume that's how it is, no matter where they're from or you happen to be visiting, unless someone specifically informs you otherwise... Is it any wonder the world hates you? :P

I'll try to be more specific next time.

Maybe I'll go with the dominican republic's rating system for that one. lol! Or maybe, since Sparky, HyperMetaDragon, and myself are all Canadian, Endless is in Europe, and Ether is American, we'll rotate with 3 Canadian ratings, a European, and then an American...  Or some such thing.
