That's an absolutely absurd statement. Any "true" gamer plays games that they enjoy. Some people like the lighthearted adventures available on Nintendo consoles. I know my Wii didn't sit there and collect dust. Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess, FE: Radiant Dawn and Xenoblade Chronicles, SSBB. There are plenty of quality games on Nintendo consoles.

Not to mention that the portable consoles for Nintendo have seen tons of great games over the past few generations, so much so that only the recent boom in mobile app-type gaming has started to take hold as portable king.

So yes, any "true" gamer would be excited about the Nintendo Direct for a variety of reasons - but most of which is the promise of new games to come down the line, many of them from beloved and quality IPs. A "true" gamer would be glad to hear about great games being announced, not nitpicking about Nintendo's lack of 3rd party support.
