@Dezuria No. 2 isn't bad at all, considering that Pikmin isn't part of Nintendo's trifecta, and is on a console with such a small userbase. Smashing success? No. Flop? Doesn't look that way.
Am I the only one who doesn't like the stamina gauge? From watching the stage shows, it doesn't seem like the game journalists are too happy about it, either, but they sidestep it and don't press Bill for answers about why they switched. There's no sense to the "risk/reward" argument, because you had that same feeling with a limited number of arrows. It just feels like another way for Nintendo to dumb down its franchises.
I don't think "distant third" necessarily needs to mean "flop," though. I think there will be a lot of people who buy Wii U as a complementary device, and that's perfectly fine.
1. Is it just me, or were the Galaxy games graphically prettier-looking than this? 2. This is not a 3D Mario, Nintendo. Don't advertise it as such. 3. Everything about this screams, "We need a system-seller out pronto." Only this isn't any more of a system seller than NSMB Wii U.
It's kind of funny, when you think about it. It's an absolute slaughter in the portable wars between Nintendo and Sony, but just the reverse in the console market ... Go figure.
I'm inclined to agree with Michael Pachter that a price cut wouldn't do much right now. The problem, in my opinion, isn't the price; the problem is that there's nothing to play on Wii U that I can't play with an Xbox 360. Its only flagship title right now is New Super Mario Bros., but Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by releasing a NSMB on 3DS as well. Why buy a Wii U, when I can just buy a 3DS -- for a cheaper price, even?
