I have no idea what companies are thinking with all the QTE's. I have yet to find anyone what was like, "Man, those QTE's really made that game great." The only thing they do for a game is add frustration and a barrier to enjoying a story. Personally, (thankfully, baught the game on sale for like $10) I stopped playing the game before escaping the cave. After the third time trying to skirt under the bolder and watching her face get caved in I called it quits. I don't get my jollies from watching women be smashed by rocks.  I wanted to enjoy a good story game and would have continued playing, no problem, if they were just cutscenes, but making a cut-scene failable is a miserable game design failure. QTE's are not fun, and never were... so why do designers use them? Marvel: Ultimate Alliance had looping QTE's which were still boring as hell, but at least kept the "story" moving without completely pointless grotesque female impalements.
