Plasma displays: they combine the fast response time, color accuracy, and contrast ratio of a CRT with the sleek, modern look of an LCD panel. Too bad they start off at 40".

Hope this isn't another Willamette.

Not much of performance boost in games. Poor overclocking (compared to Core 2). Memory controller can't cope with voltages above 1.7v. What's next?

How the hell is that system too old for Vista? Ninja edit: Keep Vista. I've installed vista on far slower systems than that (oldest one was an AXP 2400+ w/ 1GB). Your system will run Vista fine. The tiny decrease in gaming performance won't be noticeable with an 8800GTS.

Probably just your anti-virus software scanning everything in the folder. AVG 8 does this on my PC, which runs both XP and Vista. It takes more than 30 seconds to completely open a few of my networked drives (because the file server scans it before sending it, and the receiving computer re-scans it).

Does Creative still have issues with Vista? I know they really had problems. I love my sound.Domobomb

Vista itself is great, but Creative still seems to have issues with it. My X-Fi Extreme Music occasionally stutters badly under Vista. Sometimes it'll even drop out completely, forcing me to reboot if I want sound. I have both XP and Vista installed; under XP the thing works like a charm.

I'm thinking of grabbing an Asus Xonar.

IE is better! Based on my highly scientific Which One Feels Quicker test, IE is speedier than Firefox. Plus I like to keep the amount of "alternative" software on my computer down to a minimum.

Oh, and...It Just Works. :P
