Look at it this way:

Console: Simplistic games, for the masses (let's not say idiots now, even though we're all thinking it)

PC: good games! yay!

The funny thing is, the more console games I play, the more this theory is proven. :)

I would have to disagree with that slightly. There are many high-profile games that are console exclusive, those being games like GoW and MGS 2/3/4. There are plenty of games that are multi-ports that are better on the Console (Halo) and some that are better on the PC (HL/HL2/CS)

And lest we forget the worst game ever made was made on the PC lol

A gaming headset is probably one of the best investments you can make, especially if you want to play together in groups for games like CS:S or BF2. Most people don't use the in-game VOIP, because it really sucks; granted it has gotten better over the last few years. Most groups use TeamSpeak or Ventrilo (the latter is my personal favorite.) There are plenty of other games that use it, but the higher quality of external programs makes them much more effiective.

As for which headset you should get, you should probably look at the Sennheiser PC1xx line of PC headsets (both USB and Analog)
