@agent_stroud: Having worked in the field for about 5-ish years, let me see if I can help:

In modern journalism, every second a "story" isn't being announced or reported on means that people simply aren't engaging with the topic on YOUR site (or news channel). This means fewer eyes on the content, fewer shares OF that content and lack of overall traffic, leading people elsewhere to where the content actually IS.

Taking this scenario further, ads may be harder to come by as advertisers and sponsors go where the traffic is (more eyes for THEIR content).

There's a show called "The Newsroom" that came out in the early 2010s that deals with this sort of issue regularly, and it's an issue that my newsroom -- heck, EVERY newsroom -- faces on the daily: The balance between "accurate" and "quick" reporting. Prioritizing one over the other leads to the aforementioned issues.

So what do we do?

We add a "continuing to develop" disclaimer. This buys us time, and hopefully keeps people on our site waiting for updates.

As for the "costly mistakes" you mentioned as a result of rushing a story -- 100% yes. This happens, and they can be INCREDIBLY costly, considering viewers may not trust you as a reliable source.

Journalism is a tricky business post-internet and social media.

Here's a clip from "The Newsroom" of an event that actually took place back in early 2011. Hopefully it provides context to the book I just typed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ECgjvStB5U&ab_channel=ngisnre

RE4 was released in 2005, not '04.

@fanaticsm Dude, I've been anticipating this game for a while. If you look into it, it's actually pretty cool. So don't think that just because you haven't heard or seen a game that's reviewed that it's automatically not your thing.
