milk that consumer microsoft.....milk em good. no one does it better.

Oh please, every big business milks their consumer.:roll:

yes, but few have reached jedi-mind-trick status. they somehow bamboozled me into buying 3 separate 360's. there was the initial purchase. then the second time wasn't really a "new" 360, but my first one crapped the bed and my warranty had just expired. then my third purchase came in the form of an outdated 360.... i had just bought a brand new plasma and my 360 didn't have an HDMI output before 2006 (mine was a 2006, just missed it, go figure). so i bit the bullet, traded in a perfectly good 360 (for basically peanuts) on an elite. so yeah, i've been had by mircosoft.

haha, thanks for making me feel like a dingus Amith :P

so guys, what's the probability that my set doesn't need this calibration? i mean, i've never seen anything more beautiful. and why would a company ship a product that needs additional service from a third party? this doesn't make logical sense to me.

....why do this? everything looks just fine to me. am i missing something? i asked this question to one of Panasonic's tech support guys and he (at least) confirmed my suspicion. i think for $300 i would have to see a side-by-side comparison for me to get on board.

Once again I'm going to recommend the Panasonic TC-P42G25 or TC-P46G25.

UnnDunn

i can vouch for this. i just bought one, and it is absolutely beautiful.

[QUOTE="Mcspanky37"]It doesn't matter what model TV you have - it happens in all Panasonic models. Here's discussion regarding your model here. It's also worth noting that as the black levels get worse, the burn-in does on the TV as well.

Mcspanky37

As far as I can tell, Panasonic has fixed it in the 2010s, but people want to believe that the problem still exists.

Why would anyone want to believe that?

like i said, when there is a flaw in ANY product, people become instantly apprehensive that the issue will not be addressed in subsequent models. the fear, in most cases, is usually justified. but come on, this is a fairly big ticket item. people put a lot of thought into buying one of these things. and if a company were to get on the wrong side of public opinion, even for a moment, it could spell financial ruin. Panasonic is a solid company, and has been for many many years. i'm positive they are aware of the complaints levied on last years panel. surely they wouldn't commit financial suicide by distributing a faulty product for 2 consecutive years...surely. i feel confident in my purchase, so far...

[QUOTE="MajDingleberry"]

i heard that peak light emission lasts anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 hours for newer generation plasmas. that would be like watching it 8 hours a day for 20 to 35 years (give or take). if it lasts 10 years i'll be thrilled.

KHAndAnime

What I'm talking about is a specific issue with Panasonic Plasmas. The quality degradation begins anywhere from 100-200 hours. Here's a 283-Page Thread on the issue. This thread is mainly talking about the 2009 models, but in the later pages it shifts to the 2010 models. Panasonic says the issue has been fixed in 2010 models but the specialists at AVSForum claim otherwise. My 2009 Panasonic only lasted a week before my black levels doubled. The consensus seems to be that it still occurs in 2010 models, but it doesn't happen all-at-once like it does with the 2009 models.

honestly, i couldn't find any scathing reviews for the G25 panel in my search through that thread. mostly i just read peoples trepidation over last years panel. there was, however, a crapload of posts, so i mostly skipped to every tenth page. that still took a while being as it's like 280 pages. i figured i could get a good enough sampling from skipping 10 pages at a time. but if you saw something that directly puts the G25 series in this line of fire, please post it here, maybe i missed something. i mean, i don't (at this point) really want to read anything negative about the tv i just bought, but it's good to be informed nevertheless.
