Government is theoretically the voice of society.  If society feels certain things are wrong...it is their job to enforce what the majority wants.

Not the United States government. Politics have become so twisted and skewed that rarely the people get their voice heard. Drugs are victimless crimes. The war on drugs has created all the drug-related crime we have today.

[QUOTE="megagene"]I cannot put it more simply. If alcohol is legal, marijuana should be legal.MagnumPI

I agree with him:)

Only because the attempt to ban these other legal substances created another drug war. The Mob was bootlegging it. Seriously people.. If you would study your god damn history you would know why alcohol and Tobacco are legal and why the FBI, FDA, DEA and BATF exist.

I say no, because people are already stupid enough as it is. We don't need them smoking themselves stupid until they do so much brain damage that they degenerate into a perminate stupor. We don't need a heard of Tommy Chongs roaming around.

"Hehehe.. uhhh.. what? Um.. well, okay man I gotcha you. Cause you know it's like.. It's like..uhhh.. what were we talking about? Uhh WOW!!"

[QUOTE="Apathetic_Prick"]

Because Marijuana make s a lot of undesirables pretty friggin' rich, if it's be legalised, it'll have to be sold cheaper than its street value.

Age restrictions most definitely should be imposed, but possession shouldn't have strict punishment, unless it's bootlegged.  After it's legislated, you can then nail street sellers right ot the wall.

LJS9502_basic
Nope....it would be more expensive. Taxes FTW.

Taxes suck. The government is just taking more and more of your money and wasting it on stupid programs and bigger paychecks.

[QUOTE="MadDogm16"]The punishments you described are stricter than those for alcohol can you not read?LJS9502_basic

Again...you are making things up.  I didn't describe any punishment at all.  I said it should be extreme.  Not a slap on the wrist in other words.  I do not bring alcohol into this arguement because it's fallacious to do so.  Apples and organes.  One does not make the other right and vice versa.  Now if you want to quote me....then stick to what I've said and don't create your own agenda.

Here is your exact quote. "There is no such thing as true freedom. You want to legalize marijuana...how about this. High taxes...age 21 and extreme sentencing for those caught under 21 with it." No such thing as true freedom? How can an American citizen say such a thing. If you don't want "true freedom" I suggest you live somewhere else that wasn't founded on human liberties. And the other users reply: "That makes absolutely no sense. Why legalize a drug while imposing strict sentences on it at the same time? It's already been decriminalized in several states, and your theory would exacerbate the serious problem that marijuana arrests and jailings already create. What is your justification for imposing stricter punishments for possession than alcohol? " Agenda? What agenda? Stop using doublespeak. It's confusing, which was probobly your intention in the first place. Typical liberal. Yet again...

That makes absolutely no sense.

Why legalize a drug while imposing strict sentences on it at the same time?  It's already been decriminalized in several states, and your theory would exacerbate the serious problem that marijuana arrests and jailings already create.

What is your justification for imposing stricter punishments for possession than alcohol?

I  said it should be strict.  Where did I mention alcohol???

Stricter punishments than alcohol! Your posts make no sense dude.

Again...where did I mention alcohol.  I did not.  You are making things up.

The punishments you described are stricter than those for alcohol can you not read?

You can take you emo straight edge viewpoints and just poop it will clean out your system I swear. GOSH! It's not the governments job to regulate what its citizens CHOOSE to put in their own body. This country was founded on freedom! FREEDOM, FREEDOM! Which is something that is slipping aways slowly and the american people are just letting it happen. I say 30 years from now we will either be a communist nation or there will be another revolt. Read animal farm and 1984. George Orwell will pwn your mind. : )
