I had that same problem. The trick is to pull back on the analog stick as your doing the move so it won't go up. The best way I can explain this, try to make a triangle with the stick starting with the downward motion. As your hitting HP+MP+LP pull back on the stick. Tell me if that helps you.

could you explain that traiangle technique again please?

i dont have that much trouble pulling off the ultra but im just curious to see if it would make it any easier
