My PS3 is acting up again like it was yesterday and the day before. The system is off all day in a 75 deg F room, so it can't be overheating. I turn it on and it boots up to the XMB fine, meaning that the HDMI cable is hooked up properly. I can stream videos through it, played downloaded games and demos, and when I put in a game disc, it shows the preview of the game, meaning the system can read discs. However, when I boot up a game, it give me the Playstation 3 logo and does one of the following:

1) The screen turns black, with no audio.

2) The screen turns green (as shown here: http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb112/JMoney156/DSC00979.jpg)

This has happened to me the past two days, and after turning it on and off every 10 mins for 8-10 times the previous days, it's finally worked.

Does anyone know what's wrong with it? It's annoying to only be able to play after 7pm when I finally get it working.

Thanks in advance!

Interesting ...

I threatened to put it in the refrigerator if it didn't work and guess what? It worked.

So if this happens to you, try verbally threatening it with ultimatums and it might work.

Game time!

I was at work all day, I haven't played it since 5pm yesterday and my apartment has AC, so I can't imagine it's overheated. Hmmm ...

Quick side note: 80GB PS3 from MGS4 bundle (got it last tuesday, midnight), using HDMI cable, and the audio still works fine

Alright, let see if you guys can solve another one. My PS3 boots up to the XMB just fine, audio works and everything and I can play games and demos off of the hard drive. However, when I try to play a game (MGS4 or Warhawk) for example, I get a "green screen of death." Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have 76% and he hasn't called me yet. And I am far past "Lowest Point." Think it could it be a glitch?

I go to college in Rochester, NY and have friends back in NH, so I play different games with them over Live. And my friends here like to play different games too, so that's why I don't finish them before I start another.

I'm currently playing:

Call of Duty 4 (online and single player - 5 mins from the end on veteran), Rock Band, Burnout Paradise, NHL 08, and Orange Box, as well as Halo 3, Guitar Hero 2 and 3 every once in a while. And that's just for 360.

I'm also currently playing GTA:VCS, Burnout Legends, and MGS: Portable Ops for PSP and I'm thinking about getting a PS3 soon.

I only play about 10-15 hours per week, but I'm switching out discs everyday.

I already have a 360, but I got a PSP in December and I was thinking about getting a PS3 soon. Do you guys think they'll have another "5 free Blu-ray" deal again? I just realized I would have had to purchase a PS3 by the end of January to be eligable for the last one.

I can't imagine they'll have another deal now that Toshiba has pulled HD-DVDs, making Blu-ray the winner. Also, I looked at the selections from the last one, and they seemed decent, but nothing I'd really buy on my own. Do you think it's worth waiting a month or two to see if the deal pops up again, or should I just buy now?

I just got mine (Piano Black Slim) last month for $170, but two of my friends got them at launch and both sold them within 2 months. I got the benefit of a $80 price drop, a redesign, and a bunch of great games for $15-$20 to choose from.
