I dont find them creepy either, although I defently can spot out the uncanny valley. You know what wasnt mentioned here at all? Lighting. At least for videogame characters, like in that heavy rain video. For most of the video, the character looked /alright/ but obviously looked fake, but for just about 20 seconds when shes close to the camera with the gun, the lighting is different, and her face suddenly looks ALOT MORE REALISTIC. I think you might be surpised how lighting and shading programs etc effect how realistic a human character (or anything else, for that matter) looks. More so then the spacing of the eyes or largeness of a head. Because you know what? Some humans have disfigured faces, with their eyes a bit too far apart, etc, but we can still see them as "human". I think its more to do with the look of the skin, how light iluminates it, etc. Because you know, we can scan peoples faces in 3D now and put them on video game characters, and there is also motion capture... so odd features and movement are already /mostly/ dealt with right there.

This somehow reminds me of the whole promise of "Toy Story" graphics. Its pretty damn close, if not finaly there. Besides the colourful and uber graphics, its kiddyness doesnt fail to disturb me. Its just a male teenager sort of thing I guess. It seems like basicly all of us male teenagers are disturbed by kiddy-ness.... something to do with horomones... or instincts... or something.
