Doesn't look like it helped at all :( Still not getting a signal and the DRAM_LED light is still solid red.

I have a connector that has 4 pins that connect in the additional 4 ATX pin slots smoothly, but it looks kind of loose and it doesn't help solve the non-posting problem. Are those 4 pins useless and do I need an ATX cable with a solid 24 pins? If so, does that mean I need to buy a whole new PSU?

Hello GameSpotters,

I just bought parts for my first gaming PC. I set up everything in the case, connected the different parts together, hit the power button and...nothing. The fans turned on and the mobo showed a green light, but the DRAM_LED MemOK! button showed a solid red light, and my monitor said "No Signal" before going black and showing a solid amber light. The computer wouldn't post at all. I tried calling ASUS and they told me one of two things might be the issue:

  1. My RAM is incompatible with my motherboard
  2. My motherboard is defective

I'm currently using an ASUS M5A97 as my mobo with two sticks of Patriot 4GB RAM. Is that what's keeping my PC from posting, or is my mobo just a piece of junk? Here are some other details that may be relevant:

  1. My video card is an EVGA GTX 560 Ti. It came with a set of power connectors that I didn't use because it seemed like there were already identical ones coming out of the PSU, which has it working fine (aside from no signal from the monitor). Even if I use the supplied power connectors from EVGA, the monitor still has no signal. Also, it's not a defective monitor, because the same thing happens to another monitor that I tried.
  2. My ATX power connector only has 20 pins, while the mobo has room for 24.

Here are my specs in full:

Video Card
GeForce GTX 560 Ti

CPU
AMD FD4100WMGUSBX FX-4100 Processor

Memory
x2 Patriot 4GB

Hard Drive
Western Digital 500GB

Optical Drive
LITE-ON DVD Burner

Case
COOLER MASTER HAF 912

Motherboard
ASUS M5A97

Monitor
AOC 2436V 24"

Power
COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus 550W

Please help me, friends! I've been trying to set up this computer for almost a week now, and I'm dying to play all of the PC games that I've bought and saved for the day that I would finally have my own gaming PC!

Alright, thanks for the input guys. I replaced the PSU with a 550W Cooler Master. I've ordered all of the other parts, and I hope all goes well. Thanks again!

Hi everybody. I've been messing around on TigerDirect and NewEgg lately, attempting to pick out parts for my first gaming PC. I've drafted a list of parts that I think will make a decent PC, but I wanted to post the setup here, in case I did something wrong or picked something stupid. Like I said, this is my first gaming PC, and also the first PC I've ever built myself, and it would be pretty terrible to be out a ton of money because I picked the wrong motherboard or something. Anyway, here are the parts to the PC I was thinking of building:

Video Card
GeForce GTX 560 Ti

CPU
AMD FD4100WMGUSBX FX-4100 Processor

Memory
Patriot 4GB

Hard Drive
Western Digital 500GB

Optical Drive
LITE-ON DVD Burner

Case
COOLER MASTER HAF 912

Motherboard
ASUS M5A97

Monitor
AOC 2436V 24"

Power
Coolmax 600-Watt

All together, it costs about $700. How does it look? Is everything compatible with each other? Do you have any recommendations or criticisms you can make? Any cost cutting advice is definitely welcome! Thanks for looking at this thread.

For some reason, my browser can't load the page for the game Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. This is the only game page that my browser can't open. I'm using Windows 7 and the latest Firefox, though I tried opening it with IE too and couldn't.

Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?
