I played Rome: TW when it was first released on a 1.8ghz amd, geforce 4 ti4600, and 512 mb of ram.

I remember it running fairly well at 1024*768 on medium / high settings.

Nothing works!!!

I've updated my display driver to the most recent update - no difference. I fiddled with my graphics card settings with the ATI Catalyst Control centre - no sucess. I found out that my graphics card temperature was completely normal (23'C) even after two hours of my computer being on. So its not a heat problem. Then I tried changing game settings to the absolute minimum, resolution and everything and still the same problems- I just don't know what to do from now on, the only thing I can think of is that something else in my computer isn't good enough like RAM or something.

Of course the temperature is going to be normal if you're computer is just on. You're video card doesn't do jack. Play a graphically intensive game or keep 3Dmark running for an hour or two then check the temp.

It's not going to be anything other than the video card. Like others have said before it can be drivers, overheating or even overclocking. If its an OC edition videocard try lowering the memory and clockspeed of the card a bit. In the end it could just be a faulty card. I remember buying a Gainward ti4600 that had a widespread problem with faulty transistors or something that would just give out.

You guys are silly, you can recalibrate the touch screen at any time through the bootmenu, whatever its called. I think you click the tiny DS symbol on the bottom to access to options.

Edit: spaces didn't post correctly. fing firefox

Go into video options then advanced, set the screen render thing to 100% rather than 50%.

Pixelwise 1080i is basically the same as 720p.

Since 1080i is interlaced its really 1920*512 which is 980,000 some pixels.

On the otherhand 720p is 1280*720 which equals around 920,000 pixels.

Yeah they did, don't you remember setting your contoller on the floor in MGS1 so Psycho Mantis could move it with his 'mind'.

[QUOTE="Lanto"]

Whatever, you're over dramatizing his perfectly decent laptop. Telling someone he can only play games from 2002 or before is a flat out lie.

20 fps or less is a joke if I ever heard one on his specs.

basersx

I don't know what you are getting upset about. The games I listed are all FANTAStIC games! And he is not going to be able to run FEAR, Oblivion, HL2, Far Cry or any other big title games since 2002 well enough to bother. That GPU is like have the power of a 6600! I just listed games that will run well on a laptop like that. It wasn't meant as an insult and it's kind of funny that it got your panties in a wad lol!

I just think, no I know you give terrible advice. I have a 6800gt on my desktop pc and a 2500+ barton. And I run fear on everything maxed except soft shadows. Anything can run HL2, I get 60 fps in farcry maxed out, same goes for HL 2.

Really, don't try to confuse people.

Infinite praise to anyone who has any idea of how to make the Sims movie a hit...or at least not a nightmare.

Ideas?

Merimitsu

I'm thinking Adam Sandler.
