Mine done this you could try a leans cleaner but I would recommend calling Microsoft or taking back to the shop to swap it if under warrant still. I sent my to be repaired by Microsoft should have it back in a few days.

Sorry for the double post. But are there any stores other than Gamestop that it would be better to buy the system at? Are there any stores that offer plans that you can return the system if it breaks and walk out with a new one instead of having to send it to MS?Meatwad630
Most stores come with a 1 year warranty which I think you can extend. So you will be covered incase of RROD or any other fault.
To answer your questions I recently had this situation my Xbox was not reading discs so I bought a Xbox Arcade and added my 120 gb harddrive you must do the license transfer as the arcade games will show up as a trial otherwise you do this once you have attacjed your hard drive to the Xbox Arcade you do that on Xbox.com and the follow the instructions. The arcade comes with a hdmi port but no hdmi cable you get a 256 mb memory card and a wireless controller and the power cable and standard av cable. You dont get a headset though also you get a disc with 5 full arcade games on it Uno, Pac man and Luxor and Fenzy Frenzy etc.
I upgraded to an Elite last September well worth it due to the extra hard drive space and Hdmi output because at that time the Elite only offered it. The question you need to ask yourself is do you want to download lots of things ie games, movies, demos. Because thats where the Elite comes into its own for the extra space you get. But if you dont need the extra space get the premium.
