When you focus so much on gender you begin to disregard people as humans, individuals, persons - not *only* gender. A lot of people died in The Last of Us, not only to the infection, but bandits etc. Joel was a product of his time, a time were a bitter murderer is the norm. Plenty of men AND women died in the universe. Joel was fueled by circumstance, the troubled relation with Ellie because of his daughter, the death of his friends and so on. He was also fueled by a promise, to a woman - to keep the most important person on Earth, a female, alive. And, SEMI-SPOILER, he snapped, in a way, by the end.
I'm not saying there aren't tropes, but The Last of Us isn't the game you want to bash - get going on Mario instead, that isn't a misguided cause and has been going on for decades.

At least he knows this is serious business... Its too bad they prioritize consoles over PC, the PC would allow them to really push it. But no... That big dream is not for little Bungie.
