You'd be spending at least $1100 USD (so $1400-$1500 CAD????) for three years of GPU and two Xboxes if you do this. And you'd be locked in.
I think watching EB Games or another retailer like a hawk -- provided they're still in business -- for upgrading your console to Scarlet in around 2021 or early 2022 is better. You could always stack Gold/GP subs from other online retailers and upgrade to GPU for next to nothin'.
Don't buy a launch next-gen console, btw, in any case. Revisions come within a year or so, so might as well wait for at least the first revision, and then you'd also get a good two years out of your current new console purchase (say Xbox One X or All Digital S), rather than a paltry one year. Unless you keep a console in mint condition over that year and resale it on eBay or something ;)
No, that proration is for converting XBL gold and regular game pass subs anytime AFTER getting GP Ultimate; that conversion ratio is 2:3 (2 months GPU for 3 months Gold/GP regular).
Conversely, stocking up on Gold and/or GP PC/Xbox subs, BEFORE upgrading to GPU, allows for a 1:1 conversion -- however, this was a limited time offer and may end at any time.
Should note that in any case, you can only stack 36 months of any Xbox subscription AFAIK, including trials and bonus months offered as promos. Also includes codes offered from other than Microsoft.
I upgraded to GPU after getting a few years' worth of XBL gold and GP promos, and MS had thrown in bonus months for some of these. Coupled with existing time on Gold and GP subs I had enough for three years!
I'd like to win this bundle because it would be a sign of providence for me; I have been sticking around with this community since I was, what, 10 or 12? (I'm 32 now). I may not comment often anymore, but Gamespot predates IGN for me. Y'all were my first online publication.
