@normanislost Thanks for the reply. I haven't been watching the show but for a few months now and I scarcely check the comments section until lately. :)

I doubt it will help. I wouldn't want to see a large, naked fat man smoking in his mother's basement. And that's the optimistic view -- unless having your face recognized to play a game is mandatory, all one needs to do is cover the camera.

Then it starts to get creepy. Say face time is required to play an online shooter. What if the Kinect starts to recognize emotions? What could developers do with that? Kick a player for angry behavior? Extreme yes, but let's play devil's advocate since we're talking about Microsoft. Would some gamers adapt and show no external emotion, all the while uttering death threats? Would we be training gamers to become sociopaths in that case? I don't have any answers of course, but I would scarcely say that the Kinect would fix things.

Plus, I hear from a lot of women that once their face is shown in an online game of, say, Uno... the ding-dong shows. Or is at least discussed. >.>

"Do you have a baby?"

"Um, not in... this... car."

I have no idea why I was expecting you to say, "Not in this country" xD

In other words, Sony will be watching Valve to see what they can rip off. *looks at the PlayStation Move* They can eye Valve all they want, but if all they do is try to emulate them they'll fail to learn the lesson of competition.

I felt like I wanted more out of the video, but that's probably just because I don't get to play tabletop games. I would have loved to hear more quips about Johnny's experiences with them, but he did an excellent job of getting to the point and since that is the segment he was putting together I can't complain.

On the subject at hand, I desperately wish I could have more time doing this. I wouldn't even mind doing it over a video chat (a la Google+ Hangout or a similar format) if it was with my friends but that really is the catch for me. I have friends I love spending time with, but most of them don't play tabletop games, consider them too weird or esoteric to enjoy or simply find games in general an absurd waste of time and money. (Feel free to insult me for having friends with different interests than me.)

While I love playing a great game of Rummy with them or am the first person to suggest we whip out a game of Apples to Apples, it is unfortunate that even today tabletop games suffer from a strange stigma in society. For the reasons Johnny mentioned in this video, it's a shame that even in today's world that tabletop gaming is disregarded as ludicrous or bizarre, because tabletop gaming and the thrills they entail are exactly what our world needs right now out of the gaming industry.

I hope with Johnny that video games will be able to bridge this gap and that perhaps we can once again enjoy playing together, not against each other. Maybe in this process tabletop games can move out of the shadows and into the limelight, as they deserve some level of credit for encouraging cooperation and creativity.

I see a lot of people that lump all facets of game design into one giant category.

I haven't played Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 2, but when I think of the game series I often praise it for being finely-tuned in controls and mechanics. I don't look to it (or most first-person shooters) for creativity. If I play a first-person shooter, I want it to be sharp and easy to play.

If I play a role-playing game, I want it to be creative. Not that playing an RPG with familiar mechanics can be a bad thing, but it has to have a compelling reason to stay with the game -- be it a motivating story or a diverse selection of play styles.

For some individuals, a game must be grand in every way in order to merit a high score (or even a moderate one). The fact is, a game with finely-tuned mechanics and in-depth features like Ghosts merits an 8 -- nothing more, nothing less. I have not played it personally, but comparing my experiences with past titles with the addition of the features listed in Ghosts, I can easily say that it deserves what it got. If it had a compelling story to tell (memorable human characters with a personality to remember) and an excellent manner of dictating it to the player (while retaining its unobtrusive method of doing so) it would have gotten a higher score, hands down.

I am not sure that a multi-player title can reach perfection (a score of 10) in my opinion, so to suggest that the newest title in a long-running series is an 8 happens to be quite an achievement. If you're not into multi-player first-person shooters, then don't expect this game to change your mind.

It's disappointing that not all the spells appeared to work as ostensibly intended.

Have either of you tried a straight mage? On that note, with the addition of certain skills in Skyrim, have you tried a sneaky mage? My first Skyrim character was one and it certainly brought the difficulty level up even on settings as low as Expert.

I hardly play the consoles these days, but if I was still in league with my old buddies I'd be getting the pressure to go with the PS4. If I ever go next-gen, it'll likely be that one.
