Only had it for 3 days return it and get one that fills your needs.ericpolWow that would be great if I could afford it & didn't mind waiting. brownwhale thank you for your insights, I like your way of thinking & have said screw the warranty. Currently shopping for PSU & Video card now.
Yeah just looking to put in a 400W PSU replacing the 250W one it has now so that I can then upgrade the graphics card.[QUOTE="Jacena7324"][QUOTE="La_Nague"]totally dependd on what you have, if you have a normal gaming PC, 500W is usually enough, but not always. And its overkill for other PCs.evildead6789
Jacena, You will have to mention the video card, have you decided yet what videocard you will buy?
No I haven't decided which one I will purchase only that a 400W PSU will be plenty I think. I've been offered some deals & I think 400W was what was needed. Let me get the list of those cards my friend gave me, compared them with Best Buy & they are cheap.totally dependd on what you have, if you have a normal gaming PC, 500W is usually enough, but not always. Seen this one- Dynex - 400-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply- at Best Buy & it has pretty good reviews on their website.
I got a couple hundred to mess with. The cards you say will work all say online they need 400W or more. HP says I can only add an extra 300W no larger. They said this is a common and simple task, not sure why no one here has any idea.[QUOTE="Jacena7324"][QUOTE="evildead6789"]
Oh well the hd 5670 doesn't need a extra psu, it can run on the 250W, so does all cards that don't require an extra pci connector. If you buy a hd 5770 for instance your psu need to have a special connectorfor that. The gt 240 will run fine on the 250W too. Besides if you buy a new psu, a 500 W psu isn't that expensive but this all depends on your budget off course, what is your budget?

It depends on what card and what system. 400 W is just to make sure your system will last long but with cards that don't require an extra pci-e connector i wouldn't worry too much. I bought a packard bell a while ago and it came with a 250W psu and gt 320 videocard (that's not much less than a gt 240).
Anyway tell me your specs of your pc and what model of hp. You can put any psu you want in there if it's a standard psu, if hp has custom psu that's another story, i have solutions for that too but let's first see what model you've got and what you're specs are. With 200 bucks you can go a long way
