The problem is, the PS3 has MANY problems. None of which is backwards compatibility. The two overlining problems is price and games. The price is too high, and the games aren't impressive yet. If you drop the price but then remove the PS backwards compatibility, what's left to do with your PS3? Watch a blu-ray movie? Play 4 PS3 game?

Until they address both issues, which is dropping the price without dropping features, and making the same quality of games that are fun as PS1 and PS2 games got, they'd be set.

If they were Nintendo, they wouldn't have this problem, but considering Sony almost entirely relies on third party support, and third parties don't give a damn about the PS3 right now ... they're screwed and they're gonna remain screwed for a long while.

Wait, I didn't enjoy Prime or Prime 2, but I beat Prime 3 at 100% in 14 hours and I'm playing it again on Hypermode difficulty!

If your problem with the Prime series is that you feel too "alone" and you get lost, that won't be much of a problem in Prime 3. You talk to people. You talk to people a LOT (or at least they talk to you), even periodically throughout your missions, and you always have AU 242 telling you where you need to go next and what you need to do... though its still up to you to figure out how to get there and how to do it.

If you get lost ANYWHERE, it'll be Elysia. That place is a FREAKING MAZE, I tell you.

The water looks absolutely amazing -- I can see why they were bragging about it, compared to other facets of the game. The crystals, for instance, don't look like crystals. They're flat and dull ... and the monsters, though definitely more detailed, still aren't as great as the Wii COULD do. But I'm glad to see this game coming out for Wii, and as a big Godzilla fan, I think I'll be getting it.

It's a toss up between Twilight Princess and RE4. But considering most EVERYONE has probably played RE4 at some point in their lives, and not everyone has play Twilight Princess yet ... I think Twilight Princess wins just because of its newness.

Nights looks awful, graphically speaking. I mean, come on.

I really don't understand how people can't face the simple fact that the Wii doesn't offer a cutting edge graphical experience. It doesn't, and it's not going to. It's not the point of the Wii- it never was- and the games just won't look up to par with other systems. They're not supposed to.

Honestly, it's generally the same people who in one breath say that "it's all about gameplay" and talk about that being the Wii's focus, but then get defensive and refuse to admit the Wii's graphical shortcomings. At some point, people need to accept the Wii for what it is, not what they wish it were.

Dude ... they built the engine for DREAMCAST and they're too lazy to update it.

From MY understanding of the Wii's power, and granted its not a technical understanding ... I've just read various sources, and not just webpages but also magazine articles as well, that although the Wii may not be superior in raw power to the XBox 360 and PS3 ... it uses extremely advanced technology to run more efficiently on an extremely small scale. They're basically 2 entirely different ways to approach a console. Sony and Microsoft have tried to approach their machines like computers: how many polygons can we get this thing to push? Nintendo has tried to make Wii do a lot on a very small appettite by using advanced features never before attempted on a system.

The very first time I heard anything about the Wii's graphical power, it was on webpages ... reports from developers who had gotten their first dev kits, and have reported that Wii has the equivalent number crunching power of a "suped up XBox". People have been saying "suped up Gamecube" on this forum, trying to make it sound worse ... but in reality its the same, sense Gamecube and XBox were NEARLY identicle in real world power, and considering Wii is based on Gamecube architecture, yes ... a "suped up Gamecube" may be a better description, but it by no means equals not as powerful as XBox.

What's been touched upon here already that's very important to remember is that the Wii is all about coding. Coding coding coding. Unlike the other consoles, the more developers work on a game, the better it can actually start looking. Being an artist I'd liken it to painting. Sure, it looks fine now, but if you work on it for a few more weeks it'll just start looking better and better. And this is where Wii shines as a system graphically.

I would PREDICT, and this is only a prediction, that come the near end of the generation, Wii will be able to produce .... with the help of a dedicated development team, second generation XBox 360 level graphics, minus the HD of course. By this time XBox 360 and PS3 will have far surpassed this level of course ... but all this means is that Wii isn't last gen. It's just very advanced coding wise, and lacks the raw power of the other systems.

How long do you think it will be before devs start to harness the Wiis power? If you look at Galaxy or Metroid, then at Far Cry it's like WTF? So like 2 years?Duckman5

Far Cry was actually rushed by Ubisoft, during their "OMG we have to get games out!" period, which is why it looked so bad. The second generation Wii games are coming out, being led by Nintendo, EA, and Ubisoft. You're gonna start seeing actually impressive stuff now, and not just ports.

So I have a brother-in-law who modded his PS2 and loves it (ripped his games, sold them all, bought his PS3 for 60 bucks with them). He keeps telling me how amazing it would be for me to mod my Wii ... but I am iffy about this. Yes, I have a access to Wii game rips. Yes ... a modchip would enable me to play "backup discs" ... or basically, pirate games for the price of a blank DVD ... but honestly, how smart is this?

Next gen systems aren't purely hunks of circuitry like they use to be. They have tendrils, invisible umbilical cords stretching across the planet back to Mother Nintendo through WiiConnect24. XBox 360 modded consoles are banned, PS3 could easily do the same ... and Nintendo is contantly modifying their hardware to make modding difficult. Its a matter of time before firmware updates can be engineered to brick your Super Wii.

But that's just the start. What about the more subtle consequences? The voiding of your warranty? Wii's are unstable as it is ... reports of over-heated GPUs ... hell, my Wii freezes entirely every now and again (I have to unplug it before it will work again) ... what happens if my Wii catastrophically fails? I doubt Nintendo engineers will be very sympathetic if I send it to them and they find a WiiKey soddered to its insides.

Worse yet ... your Virtual Console library! With no hard drive, your games are linked to your account. If your Wii breaks, only Nintendo can transfer your account to a new system. How cooperative will they be once they receive your modded dream?

Honestly, I WANT to mod my Wii ... but I see more potential risks than I do benefits. Is anyone willing to try and change my mind?

I remember being impressed by how seemless the Prince of Persia: Rival Swords box art meshed with the whiteness of the Wii cases ... considering they're the only cases out of all the consoles that are white ... and the box art incorporates a lot of white, tan, and light color schemes. It's pretty obvious the box art was designed with the Wii cases in mind ... and that impressed me.
