@ULTRAHITMAN @Aria1368 what did sony announce that was interesting? a line up of pc ports and new footage from games that were already shown at E3 is hardly interesting news.
There was no order 1886, no announcement from naughty dog. i thought it was very underwhelming
@glassesboy @HairyMetalHead Actually it might, If devs arent spending so much money on servers, they can possibly rebound that money back into providing other services to the players.
But i get what you mean, this doesn't affect players directly. It is a big point for publishers and devs though. If microsoft are offering subsidized, scalable servers its a very big plus for MP game publishers.
@glassesboy Previously publishers would have to rent a certain amount of servers which could only support a set amount of players. This usually led to poor server support with many people not being able to connect ( SimCity had this problem) or renting too many servers costing them more money than it should.
Azure servers are scalable so they go up and down to meet demand, no more undercutting server needs. Also microsoft owns them so it will be much cheaper.
