@ULTRAHITMAN @Aria1368 what did sony announce that was interesting? a line up of pc ports and new footage from games that were already shown at E3 is hardly interesting news.

There was no order 1886, no announcement from naughty dog. i thought it was very underwhelming

@glassesboy @HairyMetalHead Actually it might, If devs arent spending so much money on servers, they can possibly rebound that money back into providing other services to the players.

But i get what you mean, this doesn't affect players directly. It is a big point for publishers and devs though. If microsoft are offering subsidized, scalable servers its a very big plus for MP game publishers.

@Karjah @experience_fade Sony cant afford to upgrade their server network, at least not yet.

Gaikai only has 24 data centers and they are all in the US.

Microsofts azure has data centers spread around the world.

@glassesboy @arqe They have a cloud (anything that manages online networking is a cloud)

DO they have something big enough to the extent of azures 300,000? i doubt it.

Gaikai themselves only have 24 data centers in the US.

Didnt psn crash when the demo for TLoU was released because the servers couldn't handle the demand?

@glassesboy Previously publishers would have to rent a certain amount of servers which could only support a set amount of players. This usually led to poor server support with many people not being able to connect ( SimCity had this problem) or renting too many servers costing them more money than it should.

Azure servers are scalable so they go up and down to meet demand, no more undercutting server needs. Also microsoft owns them so it will be much cheaper.

Looks promising, they just need to fix the clunky attack animations
