I can play Crysis at 1080p max 60FPS with SSAA. However there are some parts in the game which will send you into the 30s regardless of settings so ya in that way it's unoptimized.

But I wouldn't criticize the greatest technological marvel in the history of gaming. It was so ahead of its time that some parts are just not well optimized so it's okay. Give me Crysis level graphical breakthrough again and I'll happily accept 30-40FPS. :)

Even on this rig, I was seeing frames into low teens in some parts of the game. Like the part where you infiltrate that village. But yeah, it was absolutely stunning back in 07. And showed what PC gaming was made of. I just wish that Cryengine 2 had been as well optimized as UE4 or Frostbite Engine 3.

This does not sound right. What exactly is your resolution and AA with the 390X? Are you using VSync?

Crysis was indeed a struggle with my 8800GTS and then the GTS 250 but I was fairly satisfied with it when I got the 7850 2GB. I did not finish the game with the 1070 so I dunno how the later parts of the game fare as they were the most demanding. I did drop into the 30s at one point where I thought SSAA was the reason but turning it off did exactly nothing which means there is an obvious limitation somewhere else.

I have never played a Fallout game and now I am looking to get into it. Fallout 3 seems way too old so I am thinking either New Vegas or Fallout 4.

It seems to me that New Vegas is probably the most loved game in the series? So if I don't like it then no reason to buy Fallout 4 and thus save money as well.

If you suggest that I start with New Vegas then what version would you recommend? Standard edition New Vegas is $3.3 whereas the ultimate edition is $10. Is it worth the difference?

Fallout 4 is itself pretty cheap though so maybe I should just start with that?

So the rubber on the analog sticks of my Xbox 360 controller has totally peeled off so I am looking for a new controller. I don't have anything against the 360 controller but the longevity of the sticks is not very good. So I was looking at the Xbox One S controller which apparently supports Bluetooth?

Buying Xbox One controller with the Microsoft dongle get's too expensive for my liking. Has anyone used the One S controller with Bluetooth? What I really want to know is how it affects battery life? Is it the same as with the Microsoft dongle?

I know only 1 Xbox controller can be connected with Bluetooth and I am okay with that. Any other limitation I need to know of?

Right now is possibly the best time to buy since GPU prices have stabilized now. Remember if the current gen is anything to go by what will happen next gen then you can add 2 months into a release to get to the point where you will actually be able to buy a card at non inflated prices. I personally think you are looking into 10-12 months of having availability of a card which will dethrone the 1070 in it's price segment.

So I was playing Far Cry 3 and got a BSOD due to a CPU overclock I hadn't tested well. So that's all fine and all but now I just can't run the game at all. Everytime I run it I get the error that it has stopped working. Every other game is working fine.

I have tried to verify cache files with steam and it shows 1 file invalid but I believe it always does that for certain games. Anyways even if it is an actual problem it doesn't do anything and I get the same problem.

I would really not like to do a reinstall because I don't have unlimited data so please suggest some way you think this can be fixed?

@BassMan: Well if money is literally not a concern then sure makes sense to upgrade from 980Ti to 1080. But I think any reasonable enthusiast would agree that one really should wait for 1080Ti. Now if someone will be able to upgrade the 1080 to 1080Ti when the time comes then sure these sort of people can totally justify it. If someone won't be able to do that then I would say their upgrade cycle is stupid.

My intention is to get the 1080 Ti after anyway. Just want to see if it is worthwhile getting the 1080 in the meantime.

I am sure every bit of juice counts at 144Hz.
