@surferosh: I don't think the author elaborated because speaking to that likely would've required him to score this game somewhere between 7.5 - 8. If you take a good look at the video review; it's clear that the combat and shooting mechanics are exactly the same as they were in 2008. Personally; I believe that the depth, scope, and ambition of this game is what will make it great, but to paraphrase the gametrailers review guy; it's time to stop giving Bethesda a pass on their glitches and technical limitations!

@alien33: Yeah, I agree with your point as well! It definitely wasn't a knock at fallout as much as it was the inconsistency in which games are being critiqued on this site. There is no way this guy followed the "gamespot" scale of evaluating a game, no way! I just figure he got upset with the game because Bret Hart was kicking his butt in the second/third match in the 3:16 showcase. I know; I get it buddy; I had to fight hart at least 13 times to complete all of the objectives of that match, but that frustration still doesn't make the review score an accurate one!

Yeah, that has to be the reason why he scored it as a 4; lets go with that... LOL

How this game received a 4 is beyond me. I'm not going to knock the reviewer (although I should), and I'm not going to blindly praise yukes and 2k, but come on, give credit where it's due! I get that the game is not perfect, but it's not a 4. The game has a few unforgivable things, but it's not a 4. You have to recognize progress when you see it, and even with some of its limitations; it's not a 4! I have almost every wwe/f game created from the days of the nes, and anyone who can't see that 2k is moving this in the right direction as a total package is to put it simple...a hater! I sit here and see a game like fallout 4 get a 9 or 9.5 today; although the game is practically the same game technically that fallout 3 was in 2008. Not to dis fallout as I respect what they accomplish with each entry, but to see a so called "professional" diminish the value of this effort on wwe 2k16 to this extent; is just unfair. They say that u shouldn't knock what a person does until u can do a better job yourself. Well; I'm certain that I can find something more to praise than the commentary from Jim Ross; they did that for the attitude era in wwe 13; other things deserve a little more credit. If I bought gamespot tomorrow; I'd fire this critic immediately as you sir just may not be good at your job!

For those who are interested; the game is good, not a ten, but much better than a 4 and deserves more than the opinion of one critique, including mine..

@merimack: I couldn't agree more! I was almost certain that this was a typical "strokefest" by gamespot to the development team at Treyarch. I must say; the criticism for the lack of innovation is a breath of fresh air, and the snarky way in which it is delivered is art within itself! Maybe someone should argue whether or not this particular writer is a "real journalist"... Job well done!

...but with respect to the article and its content; I am not a fan of MP games, so the only way I'd consider purchasing this or any other FPS MP game is if it has a bad azz story to tell too!

"My opinion, my time, my money, my choice; you don't have to like or agree with it!"

Alright guys; just a couple of comments. 1. Lara Croft is already defined; she's been defined since 94 or whenever she was introduced to gamers. They aren't changing her with psychological context; they're providing an explanation and background story as to how she became the Lara we all know and love! 2. How can anyone say that it's not natural for her to go through all of those events and want to go back to possibly experiencing it again? It's called an obsession; look up s&m and ask the question as to why people continue to participate; we are all built differently, so psychologically; it's whatever floats your boat. That's what the creative director is trying to explain. The fear of being hurt/dying isn't enough to prevent her from wanting to do something special/impactful! Besides; even if the back story didn't exist; with the logic of some of you; why would she have ever been out there to begin or back for the sequel games. (LOL) 3. Last; I personally believe that the Lara we saw in the launch trailer was not seeking advice thru the therapist; as much as confirming that what she's doing as a coping mechanism (her adventures); are actually normal...metaphorically speaking. The tag line about "becoming who we're meant to be...", was her assurance that she's indeed coping and finding her own way to keep pushing forward.

....oh, and I forgot. To those who say; "why can't she just raid tombs??"; it's time to expect; require; demand, and appreciate more as gamers. The "tomb raiding" piece still exist; now there's simply a reason why! She's been a sexy and bad azz woman for 20 years; isn't it about time we knew the reasons that don't involve short shorts and pixelated breasts? Think about it! .
