Thanks for the input. Having both of you recommend the board helps. I will update my build to the Asrock. I think with spending less on the mobo, I'll go back to the 670 as originally recommended as well. I will update the links.

Thanks again!

Okay, here is what I have so far:

i5 3750K - $230

ASRock Z77 - $135

EVGA GTX 670 FTW - $370

NZXT Phantom - $100

Cooler Master CPU Cooler - $33

Corsair Vengeance 8GB - $53

Corsair 650W Gold - $100

Total is about $1,019 (I think I did my math right...)

A few notes:

I upgraded to a little higher mobo since I had never heard of the Asrock brand and it had only gotten 4 stars. This one is only $30 more though. Thoughts? Is it still compatible?

I downgraded to the GTX 660ti superclocked from the suggested 670. It's about $70 cheaper... Bad move?

I've been looking at the Phantom case for some time now. This should fit everything, correct?

Any other thoughts? Does everything look compatible? Thanks all for your help!

[QUOTE="Frantz22"]

I was thinking about upping the PSU just for some extra roomas well, just in case. Good call.

As for the GPU, thanks for the suggestion. I will probably stick with nVidia for now though. I have a 4850 and I haven't had the best of experiences with it. I know they're both great brands though - I just want to try out nVidia. Unless I'm absolutely crazy to go nVidia right now, I'll probably stick with the 660/670...

Thanks for the input!

A 650w psu is more then enough to handle any single gpu high end setup. Also a GTX 670 is faster then a 7950. and even though a 7950 can overclock so can the GTX 670 and with a slight OC can match the GTX 680. and the GTX 670 I linked has a great cooler and is already overclocked.

I should have mentioned - I do not intend to overclock in the near future. It sounds like the 670 will outperform the 7950 if neither are OC'ed?

I appreciate the links, my friend! I will take a look at these right now and let you know what I think. I will probably be finalizing my build tonight or tomorrow.

So my rig that I built in 2008 just crashed the other day. Rather than trying to figure out which part or parts are failing, I've decided to just build a new rig (carrying over only a few parts from the old rig). Here are the parts I'm looking into buying:

Video card

Motherboard

CPU

PSU

RAM

Case

CPU cooler

And that should about do it. I'm carrying over my hard drives, disk drive, monitor, keyboard, and mouse over from my old computer. I'm a grad student, so I will be buying Windows separately. Sound card will be coming down the road... Let's try to keep these under $1,000... preferrably less. I play most Blizzard games, will be playing a few new games, but don't need to max the new Crysis or anything. I mostly would just like it future proof, be able to play on 1080p, etc. I'm very out of the loop on new parts, so any help is appreciated. Also, I'm shooting for an Intel CPU and an nVidia GPU. I've always come to this site for help before, so help a fellow nerd out again! Thanks in advance.

UPDATE:

Here are the parts that I've decided on so far. Thanks all for your help!

It very well could have been a person as well, rather than a bot. People post links on credible sites in order to make sites they link to more credible. Research "SEO." Some people do it the correct way, others just spam their links. Sorry to get off topic again, but it's good to educate people.

Thanks for your help, guys. It looks like I will be getting a new video card. Will my motherboard support an NVIDIA card if I decide to go with that company? I don't quite remember how that works!

So it sounds like the general consensus is to upgrade the graphics card before anything else. I think I will do that.
