And tell the women in the Middle East and Africa that feminism is useless. Tell male and female rape victims who are blamed for being "sluts" and "asking for it" that sexism is benign.
And you don't think the belief that women are liars is harmful to society? You're clearly naive, then. It's never good for society to maintain beliefs that everyone in a group is a liar. That creates unnecessary distrust and so social instability and oppression of the group being discriminated against.
Life doesn't go on in a vacuum. Attitudes in society ALWAYS matter, because they profoundly influence decision-making and treatment of other people. And attitudes affect other people's thoughts, and thoughts lead to actions.
Sexism is related to social equality, because seeing one sex as inferior to the other is not a belief of equality.
