For those of you interested, you can now upload your own avatars for use on your PS3 tags! :)

I'll take all suggestions into consideration; I literally only started the project on Saturday, which is why there are a limited choice of avatars and backgrounds. I'm also in the middle of my A-level exams, which has cut down my time a lot also. I do plan to expand the designs and layouts however.

If you're a user of the PS3 Tags beta, then you may know the site was down for most of yesterday. This was due to my host not being able to cope with the high traffic. This was partly my fault, as I had no idea how popular the service would be - but anyway.. I've now purchased a bigger server, for a higher cost obviously, which should support as much traffic as I like (it's also faster than the other server).

I've spent the last 2 hours adding and editing code from the site, as the new server had a different PHP configuration, and it caused a lot of errors. I have also attempted to rid of useless bits of code, which might help the performance of the site slightly. The site may perform slow for the next few days; or so I am warned. This is simply because it's only just started up on the new server, so may take a while to get going. Although I haven't experienced any slowness yet.

In terms of the site's future, I hope to introduce some new big features in the next few weeks - which will hopefully differentiate the site from other gamer cards/tags. Although these features will be basic, they will allow you to further customize your tags. My aim is to allow people to create tags which look different to other people's tags. This will include, allowing you to:

  • Change the font of your gamer-name
  • Change the font of your location/PS3 model
  • Change the colour of text on the tag
  • Change positions of avatars, game icons, texts
  • Special effects, such as grayscale, colour overlays and watermarks
  • Badges to identify gap members, beta testers .etc

Obviously, I'm aware that if I try to cram too many features onto a single tag - the tags may start to become ugly. This is why you will have the choice of how your tag looks, and how to make it look different compared to other tags around there. Many people have also requested being able to upload their own avatars - this is something that I certainly will consider, however there are legal and security issues which I must take into account (and the fact that pornography or graphic avatars could be uploaded). If a feature like this is introduced, it would likely mean that avatars have to be accepted before you can use them.

As you can see, I have huge plans for the site - although none of the above features are 100% confirmed, I am considering them and will see how it goes. We also plan to increase the number of avatars - my short-term aim is to get to around 200 avatars, and then we can add more avatars on a daily basis. I am also looking into adding more background designs, which actually look completely different to the current ones.

If you have any suggestions, or you have found and bugs regarding the recent server switch - please inform me at flava@live.com, or post a reply here. I will check this forum on a regular basis, so post here if you prefer to. I will also be putting up a suggestion box on the site in the next few days.

If you own a PS3, but haven't registered - then feel free to do so, at - http://www.ps3tags.com

Thank you for your support!

As long as you don't sell them or distribute them, then it's fine with me. It would also be nice if you could make them link to PS3Tags.com - just so I get the credit and also to increase popularity of the site. If you want to save them and edit them for your own signatures, then that's fine (I'd rather you not distribute them though, as I said - I can't stop you though). Obviously, if you do this - you are at the disadvantage in which you need to 'physically' edit your signature rather than simply change it on the website. It's your choice though and I'm fine with it :)

Quite like the look of that Warhawk logo actually - might consider something similar for one of the backgrounds, if that's okay by you? :)

Hey guys, PS3Tags owner/creator here again!
The site was created and uploaded on Sunday, and we received over 400,000 hits (4000 of which were unique hits) and almost 2000 registered accounts. This was completely unexpected, and my cheap host couldn't cope. My host suspended my account as my traffic was slowing down the rest of their customer's websites!

I have now purchased a dedicated linux server - which not only runs SUPER FAST, but has no traffic limits and so can run 24/7. I have now transferred the ps3tags.com domain to this new server, however it may take a while to activate (anywhere between 1 to 7 days - although I'm told it'll be done quicker rather than later).

Once the domain has re-activated, your PS3 tags should appear as normal and the site should be running much faster - meaning your tags should load faster too.

This was the reason the tags system was labelled as a beta - it's important that we fix things like this and make sure PS3 tags can run for a long time. The site hasn't closed down, and will still be in the beta stages. Our databases were all backed up, and hopefully they should transfer over to the new server with no problems.

The cost of my old server was £30 for 6 months hosting, whereas with the new server it is £30 for one months hosting. I hope this shows my dedication for the project, which will remain as a free service and with no advertisements. Thanks everyone for your support, and see you at the *new* server soon!

Hey guys, I'm owner and creator of the site - so if you have any suggestions/bugs, feel free to post them here or send me a message. I'll try to read them all and consider them all too.

Some people have had problems with the tags working on the gamespot forums - I have now fixed this (I think), but for them to work you will need to login and copy and paste the new code, which is provided in your tag admin panel.

Some people have also had troubles logging in - I can honestly say that I've never had a problem. Make sure that cookies are enabled, as the site stores login details within cookies. Also, make sure the caps lock is not on - as usernames and passwords are case sensitive. If you're still having a problem, send me a message with your username and email - and I'll sort it out for you.

Thanks for the support everyone :)
