I dont think its an issue of Metroid games getting good ratings I think its Wii games getting good ratings. No one is expecting for GS to give it an low underserved score because its a metriod game but because its a Wii game.CADWALLADER

You know, I own a Wii and I enjoyed Twilight Princess. Other games? Not so much. Allow me to let you in on why. The Wiimote is an amazing idea in theory, but so far, in practice is has come up short. The Wiimote is often unresponsive, or it responds differently than people expect it to. I'm basing this not only on my personal experience, but on the experiences of my friends.

I can't count the number of times I've been playing Wii Sports (especially Golf, and almost as bad is Tennis) that the Wiimote has just not responded right. Examples: We swing the Wiimote but the golf character doesn't move, and vice versa.

I think part of this problem is that it was marketed as this innovated motion sensing device. That may actually be true, but many games so far have limited what that motion sensing is capable of. If I'm playing a mini-game where the point is to pull the Wiimote back and forth as fast as I can, the software shouldn't limit the speed. If I'm playing a game where I'm supposed to be swinging a sword, the software shouldn't only allow 3 different swings (I'm sorry, holding my Wiimote in one place and swinging it left and right is not any more immersive than pushing a button).

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the Wii, but it feels like the few games that are available for it haven't done what the hardware promised. And that fact may lead to initially low scores until the software gets it right, and hopefully MP3 is that software.

You can't compare Metroid to Halo because it's a FPA not FPS.nintendo_fan675

From Answers.com:
Compare
2. To examine in order to note the similarities or differences of.

Note the "or differences of," part. In essence that means you actually can compare apples and oranges, or Metroid Prime and Halo, or computer monitors and fish. The fact that you mention one is an FPA and one is FPS is a comparison itself.

You know, Gamespot will likely compare this game to the likes of Halo 3 and Bioshock, indirectly. Sure Metroid 3 should be reviewed on its own merits, but i see Gamespot naturally being biased because they wont be as impressedCrystal-Rush

Comparing Metroid Prime to Halo? That's old news... Metroid Prime has always been better than Halo. :P

I'm going to play Metroid Prime no matter what Gamespot rates it because their ratings are not absolute. No one's ratings are. I love Ys: Ark of Napishtim and Gamespot crapped all over it. It was a fun little action RPG game.

A game should be so fun that you forget about 'beating' it or 'finishing' it, and a final reward should never cross your mind. Too bad very very very few games are that fun anymore.

I remember playing Myst. I ran around the island taken in by its spectacle. The puzzles were fun, the history of the world was good (my mom read every book in the game cover to cover, a feat I've yet to reproduce), and it was an overall enjoyable time. When the game ended, that was it, the game ended. I sat there thinking about just how fun it was and I felt good that I had spent that time playing Myst.

I'm still playing Lego Star Wars II. As far as Star Wars games go, it will likely keep me occupied until The Force Unleashed comes out.

I'd love to see a modern version of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter though... I miss that game sometimes. A true sequel to the Jedi Knight series would be great too. And of course, KOTOR 3. :)

I'm kinda tired of the assumption that enjoying and playing games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band means you don't play an instrument in real life. I love Guitar Hero. One of the reasons I love it? I've been playing guitar for a decade. It's not the same thing, and that's what makes Guitar Hero fun.

It's a chance to goof off like I'm playing in my favorite bands and that's something that my guitar and amp can't offer. Have you ever tried to find backing tracks to play along to? It's tough, and it's even tougher to find good ones.

Guitar Hero is fun for all, maybe for those who can't play an instrument it is more fun, who knows. But I do know that people need to get off this, "Stop playing Guitar Hero and get a real guitar!" soapbox. It's a tired, old, dead horse.

What is needed in sandbox and free-roam games both are random mission generators._AbBaNdOn

That's still one of the things that makes Daggerfall more fun that Morrowind and Oblivion. In Daggerfall the guilds you join will give you randomized quests all around the world to do work for the guild. But in Morrowind and Oblivion all you get are pre-built storylines from each guild and then you're done. It doesn't even feel like you are working for the guild.

Daggerfall's guilds were great because (taking the Fighter's Guild as an example) you were just another guy with a sword who joined up. Everytime I got a random quest to go "take care of the tiger/bear/spiders that got into the weapons shop four/two/seven towns over" it felt like that had actually happened. I could imagine the weapon shop owner running to the nearest guild in a panic and paying them to find someone to take care of his problem.

I love sandbox games, if they're done right. I've played Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion, all of which are fun games if you think of them separately, and not as a series. GTA:SA is another favorite sandbox game of mine. Sure, there aren't many 'randomized' missions, but with all the different jobs you can have, and all the people you can work for, it could still last you a long time. Other than those though, I can't really think of many sandbox games I've played.

I have a similar problem considering that I'm unable to edit any of my forum posts. When I click on the dropdown menu, Edit This Post isn't even an option.

EDIT: Wth... ok, apparently in this board I'm able to, but in game boards I'm not.

these will not be playable in matchmaking, and maybe not even online. its just an added feature. bungie is going to stuff as many customization features into Halo 3 as possible.Rob2223

... Then why exactly would I bother? I've made a map or two (for Jedi Outcast) but if I can't play it online with my friends and goof off, then why would I make one? So I can run around in it? "Wheeeee, my map is awesome!" *confused*

I'd like to see a bunch of games that have not yet been released to North America. How hard is it to hire some people to translate/localize some games, when it's been done already with several games? Have these people translate the games, then Nintendo can approve and distribute them. Otherwise, I really want Ogre Battle 64 to hit the VC. Best N64 game no one played.King9999

Probably not so hard to find translators. Probably much more difficult to take the time to properly edit the game with a good font so that the text fits in the boxes and such. Translation: Easy. Text Hacking a ROM: Not so easy.

To the TC... I'm not really picky about any games except one. The NES version of Crystalis. Simply a must have, even though I still own my cartridge. :)
