I think this industry is confused on where it wants to go. Does it go all the way digital or not and suffer like the music business to piracy? The battles on the forums and aboard is making from gamers all the way up to executives confused to me. For example

  • digtal download v. cloud gaming v. physical
  • hardcore v. casual
  • Apple vs the rest of the business
  • PC vs. consoles

The last battle I think is really tearing the game industry apart because it is causing gamers to shift into two camps PC camp and console camp. I really been a console guy all my life because that where all the games been. On PC you don`t have motion controls and some other things that coming for the Xbox 360. You can now watch cable channels over Xbox Live which I think the PC doesn`t have without the need cable box. PC has superior graphics and some other things I don`t remember. I believe PS3 is getting a MMOFPS which has the potential to change the market.

Phil Harrrison former Sony exec said so in an interview to EDGE magazine. I have another question will be ok for the game industry if someone like Sony and Microsoft to model Apple, to come with a new model of same technology for a year after predecessor is out? Sony already doing it so will Microsoft and especially Nintendo do it?Are game consoles dying because someone in the LA times think so? Why is that analysts, journalists, and executives seem to be saying this next big thing so the next big thing is $1 games that will soon as Iphone or Ipad get popular prices will go up? Could somebody please help straighten this out in my head?

If this especially happen at Onlive you can`t play game that you wanted to play because you need a constant tnternet connnection. Steam you wouldn`t be ablt to download the game you wanted for days. How would that feel? Anybody that says that there won`t be Physical media in the future is now living in fairy tale land go ask a company especially Sony right now.

I have an example they say everything especially the ones who run the like EA CEO who digital good will outpace packaged goods but he still selling disc. Like hearing executives say they want a one console future whils still making games for mulitple systems. Really I just don`t get it. I would to hear from you all other examples you heard over the years from game executives.

Even though some people might say it didn`t sell well i.e Michael Pachter 820,000 units seems like a good starting point. How do you think about the game? Guys I playing on Hard or Very Hard.

Pardon my ignorance, but what happened with Steam and Dead Space 2?

broken_bass_bin

When Dead Space 2 came out you know Steam would usually have it and you could download it even on the first day. When people try to purchase their copy of Dead Space 2 on Steam the first day it gave a message like we`re working with EA on the problem even though it was fixed a day later people with physical copies were playing the hack out of it on the first day from retailers like Gamestop.

I heard that they got it repair for Dead Space 2 but anyone that says that physical media is going by the way side is pretty optimistic(wrong). For everyone who talk about Steam is a godsend got really burned. All those people who were expecting to play on their games and hate physical media really need to shut your mouths. When you had that problem other people with their physical copies were playing their hearts away. How is you faith in Steam now after that incident? What if this happens again?
