I don't think 18th century women would agree with you...

Perhaps you could ask some and get back to us.....

In my country (The U.K) we never understood these holidays

Why would you celebrate a genocidal maniac?

Here we have Guy Fawkes day. We don't celebrate him, rather we do the opposite.

And our Harvest festival doesn't have roots in racism

[QUOTE="hiphops_savior"][QUOTE="lamprey263"]a few stories come to mind the story of Job: God has a gentlemen's bet with Satan whether God can smite Job and ruin that which he loves in life and he will continue to love God, so after God kills his livestock, his family, and inflicts him with disease, God finally gives him all he took back, new family and more livestock... like the family he loved before can just be replaced the story of Abraham and Isaac: God commands that Abraham sacrifice his most beloved son Isaac to God as a sacrifice, then when Abraham tricks his son to go up to the alter, when Abraham is about slit Isaac's throat, God is all like "whoh whoh, I was just gonna see if you're gonna do it, man you're messed up, I hereby bless you to have many descendants seeing as you can so willingfully let them die" then there's Noah: Noah, a drunk, who had sex with his daughters, is picked by God to preserve life and he build's a big boat, then drowns everyone on Earth only allowing Noah and all his animals to survive so yes and no, god didn't commit ONE atrocious act, he committed numerouswis3boi

1. Job's trials and tribulations were a gambit by God, knowing that Job will preservere. Some Bible scholars speculate that Job had a problem with self-righteousness, and that all of these things God put him through is meant to address said flaw. 2. Note that Isaac's sacrifice (spoiler, it was a near sacrifice) was the final act of trial for Abraham. At that point, Abraham's faith in God has gotten to such a point that he is able to make the trip knowing God will provide a sacrifice for him. 3. Nice way to mistaken Noah for Lot. Another, there was a problem with Nephilims in Noah's time. They're unholy offsprings of angels and human, and chances are, they leveraged it into grabbing power and oppressing people. Who are we to judge God when we don't know the entire story? Do we even know God's side, or are we as imperfect men in our hubris try to judge God because we feel more righteous than him?

gotta love how chrisitans always love blood sacrifice, as if a higher power needs such a thing....and as if an all powerful deity who knows everything possibly needs to 'test' people.

Killers gonna kill. Unless you're God. Then you're not a killer and it's justified

Christians just give up, you're a lost cause under the boots of secularism.

[QUOTE="DirigiblePlums"]

I have a couple friends torn on this.

One says that you should always conduct yourself appropriatly, even changing your personality accordingly in some cases.

The other says that you should never care what people think of you. There will always be those who despise you no matter what.

What do you think?

More violence doesn't really solve anything. At the end of the day they're just trolls. But they don't deserve death.

Oh they totally deserve death but hurting them is a bad idea as they'll sue the shit out of the city. There were times where bikers had penned them into a hotel parking lot blocking them from leaving, WBC contacted police and other authorities to remove them but they all claimed that they had bigger problems when really they were just bullshitting. That's how you stop them.

That's excellent.

Not even a little water boarding?

I think some punishment is in order. But to what degree I know not. :p

Why care about what others think of you? They aren't the ones living your life, so what does it matter if others don't like you? Just be yourself and live your life, if others can't accept you for you then that's their problem, not yours.Smokescreened84
I agree with you. However I think some people take this philosophy to the extreme. Caring what others think about you is good self-criticism.
