My 8800GTS has a TV out connection and I have a cable that hooks in that has the options of S-Video, Composite, and Component. I want to use the component connector because of the image quality, but when I hook it up to my TV I get a whole bunch of random colors and no screen. The composite connection works, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Anybody care to help?

Hi I've been looking around on this board for a while while I tried to figure out what parts I should get for my new computer. I'm finishing up the build now, but I still have a couple uncertainties. Here's what I have so far:

Case: Either the Thermaltake Armor or the Gigabyte 3D Aurora (I know it's out of stock)

Motherboard: I'm torn between these two Gigabytes

Video Card: EVGA 8800gts G92 (I may overclock this a bit, but not too much. How much would this reduce the card's lifespan?)

PSU: Corsair 650W

Proc: Intel Q6600 (I may overclock this to 3.0 or 3.2. Same question as video card.)

HDD: Samsung 500GB

DVD Drives:

Not sure which to get, but I want a normal ROM drive and a burner.

RAM: I'm torn between these three. Keep in mind I don't know anything about RAM brands and whatnot. I may overclock these too, but not sure.

Other: I want a a good, reliable card reader and something to bring my USB, Firewire, and audio jacks to the front. Not sure what to get.

Does that look good? Did I miss anything? Should I get some after market fans or what? Please contribute as much as you can. :) Thanks!

Would the life of the card be different from an factory OC'ed card if I did it myself?

Well the thing is the EVGa card seems to be the best value due to it being bundled with Crysis. Also, nobody has any idea when the SSC version would be coming out?

So the GTS isn't worth it? And I've never overclocked before.

I've been playing the waiting game for quite a while now, but I'm running out of patience. I waited on the 8800gt and then heard a month later a new gts would blow it out of the water. So I waited some more. Now the problem is people are saying the performance upgrade from the gt is small, while others say it's big. Which is it? I don't care about 5% faster, tell me if I can SEE the difference at 1600x1200 resolution. I'm also wondering if EVGa is coming out with a ssc version of the new gts anytime soon. If so, would it be possible to overclock it myself to those speeds without any other cooling upgrades and without a large decrease in the life of my card? (I've never overclocked before) I've also been waiting on the Penryn processors, but again I'm getting impatient. Should I just cave and get a Q6600 or wait some more to get a new processor for not much more?

Thanks!

Both those boards are P35 and (correct me if I'm wrong) there is no SLI version of a P35 board at the moment.

Gah, is there really a need for so much hate? :)

Seriously, I think it'd be cool. Start out at Hogwarts, move onto the real world, join Death Eaters or Ministry or Order of the Phoniex, have fun.
