Gaming is in fact a hobby and many people strive to become the best player at a certain game, but what an indivdual must understand is that it is not a good hobby. There are many alternatives, such as playing guitar or working out or joining a sport. Overall, all these hobbies, inlcuding gaming, are skills that a person can practice and become better at. However, playing guitar or working out definelty have more favorable benefits and rewards. In other words, the addicted people believe gaming is their strength and it is what they must excel at, but almost every other hobby has much better effects on their life. A person who practices guitar will be able to spread music, a person who exercises will become very fit, but all a gamer gets is their often pixelated rewards that only exist within the game. Games are just like movies, they are just for entertainment, not for reality.

Games are intended to be relaxing and interesting. You know you have an addiction when you get frustrated over levels, scores, and play for more than an hour just to achieve some in-game item.

Playing a game for 15-30 minutes is fun and it keeps the experience memorable, but when you play for an hour or more, it just gets meaningless and you become nothing more than a drone. If you overdose on games, you will eventually become oblivious to it and then your game isn't fun anymore.

My definition of addiction to games is when you have an urge to shoot everything that moves after 8 hours of playing gun games. Not that I have done that.....
