[QUOTE="jedikevin2"]His money but DANg... that is just WAY to expensive... Something is sounding like he just wants to go ALL out for the sake for the giggles... C_Rule

One of my friends did this. Sunk ~1.7K into a PC with a i5 760 and 5870 (I had a good list for him, but he and his uncle f**ked it up). Wanna know how many games he has? One, Fallout New Vegas of all things....

He sounds like a worse version of my best friend. We built our rigs at the same time and he got an i5 2500k, 8GB RAM, a GTX 570 and 1200w PSU. What does he play? LoL, Starcraft 2 and Gmod...You could argue that the PSU would be excellent for two 570s, but he hasn't got one since, and he's on a single 1080p monitor.

Some people are just funny that way, buying things they'll never use.

It's really only worth getting older cards if you can get them exceptionally cheap, otherwise you are better off with the current series monetary equivalent.

Just like in real time, what are your chances in shooting a dummy by spraying? You gotta go easy with the spraying! Pace yourself with the left click, and the better the chance of you getting an oponent rather than spraying first of all! :P Like I said, this is all experience. Theres a 50% chance of killing an enemy with the jump trick method, especially when they're close; patience and dedication young one! :D

I'm not sure why there's a presumption that I'm spraying and praying. Burst-fire is clearly the best way to go. I just can't seem to hit anyone, and I've basically given up trying :(

Regardless of if I became skilled at the game, there's no much keeping me staying. I have no friends to play the game with, the game doesn't have any sense of progression (apart from Steam Achievements which I don't have much interest in). It feels like an old mp game well past it's prime to me, the stupid aiming is just the sprinkles on the dog **** for me.

Exactly, burst-fire is the way to go. If your using an M4, burst fire with mouse. The game still feels fresh imo, I only have a friend on steam, but he hasn't been online since early 011. The game still has ALOT of people playing and it'll continue to be like that, hopefully until the next CS comes out. There are still people playing CS 1.6 for crying out loud! You'll get used to the aiming, most beginners quit CS because it's extremely strict to newcomers. Give it time and dedication and you'll become very good at owning others. I started out bad, then from practice, became very pro (I have a pic with a 3.5 KD/R check the 2nd page here). Like others said here, it takes time and dedication, this aint COD son!

Actually, you've reminded me of another thing I didn't like about the game. The community was pretty awful from what I played. I'm not saying you're a part of this, but your presumption that I play Cawwa Dewteh (Which I don't, unless you were just making a joke in which case it's cool :P) is classic CSS community banter. Maybe this is the reason I'm not overly competitive in MP games, everyone does their best to act as beta virgin as possible online. I'm amazed at some of the things people will say to each other online. Not doing well because you're a clearly a beginner? "LOL QQ N00B!". I mean, I picked up League of Legends last year, and that was a steep learning curve being my first Tower Defence (Outside of Warcraft 3, but I only played those ones once or twice), and since the community wasn't full of beta virgins (from my experience) it wasn't the awful learning curve that CSS has been. FFS, there's no ranking in CSS, do people need to act like complete arse hats everytime they encounter a newb?

I don't mean to come across as being a sook, but why try playing with people who are complete douche bags?

oh dont tell me this guy said something about amd

lightleggy

Can't be bothered finding it, but he more or less said that there's no reason to ever get an AMD over an Intel, proving he doesn't understand the concept of budget or efficiency for application.

its just like my friend, he says that AMD is complete crap and he only says that because he has an intel, he said that his 4 years old dual core beats my phenom ii 965  amd is awesome seriously, not only it has a great price but the performance is awesome as well, plus it has some great technology and cache, and lets not forget how awesome and useful the black edition is if you know how to work with your processor

Well what do you know, lespaul also happens to own an old intel too. I think we're seeing a pattern here ;)

Ah quit your whining and try some more! :P It takes time in order to understand the usage of primary secondary weapons. Simply spraying an M4/AK is not going to get you anywhere. As for the crouching, it's a matter of preference. I usually don't crouch whenever I'm killing opponents The game is really strict towards noobs, hense why you see a lot of 5-25 (Etc) scores. Games like COD, KZ, and the modern FPS games today are extremely dumbed down just to help newbs.

ScottMescudi

But how the hell do you hit anything?! :P

I honestly don't mind a learning curve, but shooting a gun in a shooter shouldn't feel alien to me. The bullets just spray, often going all over the walls behind the target.
I can hit people well enough if I camp, simply because the accuracy of the guns doesn't suck bollocks while crouching still. My question is how do people manage to jump around all over the place and get headshots?

I bought CSS last year with Gmod and I don't particularly understand the appeal.

I've rage uninstalled it 3 times and I think I'm at a point where I've given up. I've really tried with it, I always give games as much of a chance as I can stand before making conclusions. As others have said, new players basically stand no chance. I hate how twitch it is. I'm sure if I was to stick to it I could adapt but the aiming feels like a complete joke to me, I don't understand how to hit anything without crouching still (which is a deathwish). About the only gun I can be decent with is a shotgun, but that's only useful in the closed maps. I stand zero chance in any outdoor or really open combat, the accuracy of the guns feels completely random to me and I honestly hate how the guns feel. The most frustrating part for me is getting enough for a good weapon only to get my ass killed instantly. I've also been killed a few times while still buying weapons on some maps (Dust was the main one if I remember correctly), which I think is a joke of level design (Almost as awful as MW2 and it's camp-friendly designs). There should be no line of sight between the other side of the freaking map and my spawn.

Honestly, I find TF2 to be the infinitely better game. I was able to pick it up and become decent within a few hours once I figured out how some of the weird weapons work, and the game has a cool style and sense of humour. CSS to me is just a 1999 shooter sprinkled in 2004 graphics with a ridiculously steep learning curve. I liked some of the servers, but the guns? I can't work them, and I don't think being able to aim straight is something I'm willing to actually put work into.

tl;dr - Not a particularly bad game, but picking it up in 2011 is certainly way past the point where the game will have nothing for newcomers.
