Meh, the Matrix franchise is a masterpiece, has stood the test of time, and remains relevant. They are taken together and includes the Animatrix, the game Enter the Matrix, and even the MMORPG. It melded the humanities (philosophy, theology, and sociology) with technology. It was the progenitor of the concept of social media and the Internet of all things in the late 90’s in my opinion, during a time when bulletin boards, mailing groups, and mIRC dominated. It allowed people to look past the concerns that communication by Internet could lead to a more disconnected and impersonal society where human interaction has lost its animus touch. I still remember how this was a relevant topic in high school and early college classes. I still think people bitch about the sequels just because they didn’t understand the grand design of the philosophical concepts and implications to the plot.
