Naval warfare is all well and good, but Ubisoft should have another franchise for that. They should have kept Assassin's Creed doing what it does best. Free-running, historical cities to explore, and hand-to-hand combat.
It would be really cool for them to have at least a piece of the game send the protagonist back to ancient times like 65 million BC, at least for a section of the game. Ubisoft could completely let its creativity fly without historical restrictions and dabble a little more into the Ones Who Came Before. Could be cool
The Desmond story is what makes this series go from great to incredible. It's not just some last minute idea to throw together multiple settings and characters, it's an extremely well thought out structure that not only ties in nearly all of history (most notably in the "Truth" segments in AC2) but also gives a mysterious under-plot that appears only at the beginning and end of the games, making a much deeper narrative experience without plaguing the rich historically accurate settings.
I wonder what it's like for a group of people to come to work and find out a crazy guy like Ken Rolston is your new co-worker. Just gotta be a weird day for everyone.
