the pricing difference between most good shops in aus, and places like newegg etc with us prices, are at the most a 10% price difference. Which is probably because of our 10% GST we have to pay on everything..

Basically i was just interested how you could build the OP's system for 1k.. But you were just exxagerating as i thought you were..

I know plenty of places to buy pc parts from... I built a new rig like a week ago..

What i asked was how the **** can you build what he has for $1k

when a gtx280 is like $600 alone..

I thought AUS was catching up with PC pricing... maybe not if you can build that for 1k.

Just built mine last weekend, finally ditched my S478, AGP and DDR1 setup.

Prices are so cheap in AUS now compared to like a year ago!

Gigabyte EP45-DS3 mobo

E8400 @ 3.6ghz with an Asus Silent Square Evo

4x1gb sticks of Geil DDR2 800 @ 4-4-4-12 timings

the usual 500gb sataII 32mb cache HDD

Vista home premium 64bit

Thermaltake M9 case

430w thermaltake psu, LOL, will upgrade soon.

His 4850 ICEQ4 Turbo, OCing soon.

22" LG widescreen

LOVING IT!

3dmark06 before cpu OC was around 13.5k

Just built mine on the weekend, Man prices have dropped so much since i last built my pc two odd years ago (in AUS that is).
