Death, easy. Are people that scared of death they'd rather live a miserable life? Whats the point of living if its going to be like that anyway.

Ilovegames1992

What defines misery to you? I don't think either of those lifestyles would be "misery".

Of course they would.

I think you need to broaden your definition of misery.

Um...guys. I just want to call something out before we get too far into "OMG POLICE STATE!" territory. [quote="National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 bill"] (b) COVERED PERSONS.-A covered person under this section is any person as follows: (1) A person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored those responsible for those attacks. (2) A person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces. (...) (d) CONSTRUCTION.-Nothing in this section is intended to limit or expand the authority of the President or the scope of the Authorization for Use of Military Force. (e) AUTHORITIES.-Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States, or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States. nocoolnamejim
I'm not thrilled at this amendment that the GOP has tacked on, but it's worth noting that this bill SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDES U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents from being included. It's also worth noting that the President does not have a line-item veto power. He can't kill the indefinite detention part of this without killing THE ENTIRE FUNDING OF NATIONAL DEFENSE for fiscal year 2012. (At the very least for a month or so while Democrats and Republicans in Congress fight it out.)

It is my information that the clause you stated was removed from the final bill. Thus the outrage.

I'm not particularly pleased with this either. On the other hand, here's a (LONG) but interesting alternative interpretation/viewpoint on this matter. Linknocoolnamejim
Yeah stopped reading as soon as they painted it as Leftist propaganda. This is not a left or right issue, this is an issue for everyone.

Sadly, at this point I don't think peaceful protesting will change a thing. Elect different politicians, you might say? I'm sorry, but no that won't work either. They're almost all the same, and the system is rigged with only a tiny minority actually willing to change anything. The whole thing is like the inside of a blackhole; no matter what direction you turn space is warped to push you towards the center... Really, the only way things can change at this point is via violent uprisings just like our ancestors did centuries ago. Unfortunately, that's nothing more than a pipe dream given the military's current strength and how pacified most of the populace is. So yeah, we're pretty much screwed.

There is always a tipping point. Every war starts with one shot...

They did state that corporations are people so I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.

Uh....do you think corporations are inanimate objects?

Certainly not, but now they have a free pass to make political donations anonymously with no cap. They have more rights in that aspect than an American citizen. Not cool, IMO.

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] My rep voted no.....yay. My senators voted....yes.....I won't vote for them.LJS9502_basic
i have no idea how to figure that out more to the point i have no idea who is a rep or senator of my area

You can google it. I googled the vote to see how my politicians voted. It was actually disappointing. PA has a decent number of reps only TWO voted no.

Yes, Jason Altmire just received a few scathing calls and an e-mail from yours truly.

The Supreme Court is refusing to hear it. This could be a good thing. What if they affirm it?
