I'm not saying you'll do hard time.
It's all dependent on what you do. If you head-butt him, you're going to get your *** whooped, and probably tased a couple times, and you're going to be fined, sentenced to community service and/or parole. You'll PROBABLY get like a month in your county's lock-up. I can't imagine anything more unless it's aggrivated.
it's not like the police don't deserve it. the number of cases of police brutality in the U.S. is disgusting. if i was made of titanium and ran like the flash, i'd beat down a couple of cops. unfortunately i'm just some punk and would get beaten down with night sticks and thrown in a cell with some crackheads. Most of the time the people getting beaten deserve it for being stupid. For example, headbutting a cop.
