Let me start out by saying I have both a Wii and Xbox 360, so I'm going to make this as unbiased as possible. I'm going to explain my theory on the whole graphics issue to hopefully put a rest to it. Also since this is a Wii forum, I'm specifically directing this toward us Wii owners and the whole "disappointing graphics" thing. I often compare graphics to food, I know it sounds weird, but let me explain. When you go out to eat you don't pay much attention to how the food looks...you mainly want to know what it tastes like. But if the food has a fancy presentation, then it might enhance your enjoyment of it. On the flip side if the food has a sloppy presentation you might be more hesitant to try the food. However, in both sitiuations if the food didn't taste good to begin with...then the appearance doesn't really matter; I'm sure youv'e already guessed where I'm going with this. Relating it back to video games, the reason we buy a game is usually to play it, to "taste it", to see if it's a fun game. The only way we really ever notice graphics are if they are good, which can enhance the gameplay... or if they are bad which can detract from it. You could have the best graphics in the world, but if the game doesn't deliver from the gameplay aspect, then the look of it is worthless. Having said that a game could have sub-par, mediocre graphics...but if the gameplay shines, then the game could still be a good buy. Often I go to the Xbox 360 to be immersed in a game by it's realism in graphics, if the game executes well on that level then you get a remarkable game. However the Wii can also deliver in this respect. So when a developer really nails the motion sensing capabilities, the Wii really delivers like no other console. I won't lie like some people and say graphics aren't important. Graphics ARE important, make a game a much richer experience. However graphics are NOT essential...gameplay is what truly defines a game and molds it into a genre-breaking, outside the box type sucess. My point is that even though a lot of these Wii games are graphically sub-par, or embarassing, a lot are shining with gameplay...and this is saving a lot of games that would normally stink on a regular console. With games like Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 coming out, games that are delivering not only on gameplay, but also on the graphical front, look to change all this. Hopefully with these games, developers will be shown that the Wii can be a next gen console. So Wii owners look forward to the future ..beacuse it will be good!

Yeah it's pretty shocking considering ign and gamespot have both noticed improved visuals. In fact I think Gamepro said that the graphics overall are a lot better than Halo 2.

[QUOTE="Bluestorm331"]I think the only reason people view the Wii as a fad is the same reason people used to view the DS as a fad. It's just like any other industry. When a product, a very unusual ground-breaking product...something that is going to change the industry, people get all freaked out and they think that it just won't do well or in this case they say "oh well, well it's gonna die out real soon because people just won't buy that thing...it's going to be a fad." But really I think the most of people that say that are hypocrites. Most consumers that are in a certain industry, and especially the video game industry, always look for something that's different and a breath of fresh air. When the Wii surpasses the 360 in units sold, people will know that the Wii is for real and it WILL keep on selling!Michael85

If anything, situations like these should show self-proclaimed " " gamers how little they influence the industry.

Yeah that is very true. It seems, especially now, more causual gamers or people that usually wouldn't even play video games are having a bigger impact on market share...and the industry as a whole.

Yeah, I play my Wii on ED 480p all the time and it looks great. The whole thing with LCD's is well the LCD's or Liquid Crystals. For some reason the normal interlaced signal you get from your cable or composite cable for Wii...it just looks very blurry and worn, especially if you have a flat panel like mine. So if your going to play Wii or even DVD's go with the ED or HD. It looks a lot better in 480 p/progressive scan. If your thinking of getting one, you should, but only if you get the 480p cables.

I agree, I'm not sure online would suit a game like Star Fox. I also agree that another game along the lines of Adventures would be awesome. Just because it was outside of the normal Star Fox games is no reason it was bad. To me it was not only a great Star Fox game but a great game period. Plus for a very early GC game it had some pretty good graphics. So anything they do on Wii should be really good.

With IGN and Gamespot giving MP8 relatively low scores, there is still one big name that hasn't. Personally if I was going to trust any kind of reviews, it would be those done by Game Informer. Anyways they gave it a 7.25, which is pretty good. In fact the reviewer said this Wii version might be the best one so far. All those interested in buying the game or at least seeing the positives of it should check it out.
