[QUOTE="BlueSaberWolf"][QUOTE="pokefant"][QUOTE="BlueSaberWolf"][QUOTE="pokefant"][QUOTE="BlueSaberWolf"][QUOTE="DirkVDV01"][QUOTE="BlueSaberWolf"]Does anyone know the average price for these video cards? I am thinking of upgrading my video card from GeForce 6100 nForce 430. pokefant
I would save my money and get something better. But if you really must... 7300GT: $85-$90 6800: $100-$120

Thank you. If I don't buy one of this video cards, what do you recommend? I just want an affordable video card that can play most games.

7600GT ($90)
7900GS ($145)

Those budget enough for you? Or are you looking for less? (If you wouldn't mind waiting longer, and spending a little more, you could get an 8600 Ultra (which is far superior to both cards I listed) at $175-$200.

Yeah. One more question. If I do buy 7600GT, how long will it last? I mean will it easily be outdated?

What screen resolution do you play at? It can handle nearly all games out today, but it is somewhat outdated. You may have to turn down some settings in certain games. (I figured since you were suggesting the 6800 and 7300GT as a possible choice, you weren't exactly interested in cutting edge-- sorry, no offense.)

It still is a great card for the money. You can get two and SLI 'em, for the price.

I am not exactly sure what is my screen resolution, but I have a 19" widescreen monitor. I haven't been gaming since 2 years ago. My old computer is almost obsolete that I have to replace plus the price of computers these days are getting cheaper. I just want to optimize my computer that it will last for a while. Basically, I want a video card that is best suited for my computer specs. If your interested about the specs, I have AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual processor 4200, 1GB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM, 320 GB, SATA 7200 RPM. Yeah, I am not looking at a cutting edge computer, so no offence taken. I just want an optimal computer setup that are just sufficient for basic needs.

Alright. For the most part, your PC is pretty good. The 7600GT is right up your alley. Maybe, down the line, you might want to look into another GB of RAM (while it'll be alright for now, a good amount of new games are requiring 2GB to run smoothly).

Yup.  I am planning to upgrade to 2GB sometime in the near future.  I just waiting for a sale or if I have spare to money to afford one plus there are so many games that I haven't play in the past 2 years. Its all good though.  Thanks for everything.  I appreciated the time you took to help me.

Hmmm, if it's AGP: a 7800GS, if it's PCI-E, a 7900GSDirkVDV01

I have PCI-E.  The 7800GS is out of the question.  7900GS is a bit expensive.  I am looking for a video card under $100.  I am thinking of 7600GT, but I am not familiar with video cards.  I have read some information about 7600GT, but I want to know about your personal opinion about it. Thanx.

Yeah, I heard of the OEM. I think its better that you check the floating thread about Vista in the forums of PC.   You can even find a link comparing the OEM version from the  retail or full version.

Home Premium is the best then, since basic contains just the OS and nothing more, Business edition is for workstations and Ultimate is too high in price and doesn't add much extra over Home PremiumDirkVDV01

Actually, Home basic is sufficient enough unless you want Aero that includes flipping the windows, live tile and some other features that I can't remember . You don't need the extra features anyway. Basically, the other version are design more of for business and offices use.

Vista Premuim is a bit pointless if you just game on your PC. Get home premium, all the best features of vista without the business features you do not need.ILoveBeingDrunk

I think you mean home basic. If I am not mistaken, home premium and Vista premium is basically the same thing. Here is a comparison between editions

1.6>>>>>>>>>Source any day of the week, uless you only care about graphics.

And don't get the anthology, because Condition Zero is the biggest waste of $10 I can think of. Just buy the games off of the Steam network.

ihatebugers

Too late I already bought it plus Condition Zero isn't half bad.  I play it to get acquinted again with CS.  Its been a while since I played CS.  I easily get pawned in CS.  At least with condition zero, I have chance to win against those bots though I hate them sometimes because they are camping too much.
