Yes, like I mentioned in my first post, I cleaned and vacuumed the vents.

When I first turn my ps3 on now, I can feel cool air come out of it in a decent volume, which leads me to believe that the fans are OK. But as soon as I am at the XMB for a few minutes hot air starts seeping out of it in the back. It gets pretty hot, so much that if I sniff behind the console it smells kind of like a hair dryer. I turned it off and waited for it to cool down then vacuumed out the grills on the back externally, but they were already pretty clean and nothing came out. I don't remember this ever happening to me before. Is there something else I can try to keep it from getting too hot? Thanks.

I got it to work in Vista 64 by switching to an older version of opengl, you can do that in a program called Rivatuner.

Ouch, I feel really dumb now. What happened is, I didn't have a clear enough look at the back of my tv and the audio cables (red, white) were connected to another input other than the component set. I switched them over and now all is well. Sorry for the dumb question, thanks for the replies.

Red, green, blue then one white and one red for audio. So 5 total.

I connected my slim psp to my tv today via the component cables. The picture looks fine but I don't get sound at all in my game of Star Ocean. Once I remove the component cable after going back to the XMB, sound comes back. Anyone know what I am missing? Thanks.

I just got a psp slim and am using the tv out component cable. I tried to play Star Ocean but there was only a picture and no sound. When I disconnect the cable (after exiting the game) sound returns. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

One more question, would it be true HD if I had a widescreen monitor? Thanks.

I have my ps2 hooked up to a cheap lcd hdtv, it must have a terrible scaler because ps2 looks bad on it. My question is, should I drag a huge tube tv into the house or should I use a good vga box on my pc monitor? Anyone have experience with this problem? Thanks for any help.

If I get one it's either going to be the fat original or the very newest one with the built in power supply that just came out. On one hand, the original has a fan in it so it shouldn't overheat, but if I get a refurb one from a chain store would it likely be so old that it would die on me in no time? Then again, do the newest, slimmest ones with the in-built power supply get really hot? I don't play for ridiculous chunks of time, but I want to be sure I am not buying a fire hazard hehe. Anyway, if a few people could chime in and recommend one model or the other I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks.
