@NetGod @no_pants_4_u My PC doesn''t let MS watch my bedrrom, even in the dark. And it does not collect biometric data. Kinect does. Comparing Kinect to a smartphone ot a computer is just retarded, cuz it collects different kind of data, it's mandatory when it shouldn't be, and we have only MS's always honest word that we have full control over it.
They don't need a smartphone to know that ocasionally I hit the showers and visit the restrooms. Can a smarthphone record a HD video of me or my kids showering? No, it can't. And it's not about tracking me where I go. As I said, it's about surveiling your living/bed room in HD... all the time. If you're okay with that, fine. I'm not keen on this Orwellian gadget and it does not have a place in my house.
I don't believe it can be switched off completely just because MS said so. PRISM anyone? Check. Windows backdoors for the CIA anyone? Check. MS policy allowing the greedy bastards to use Kinect against my pocket, if I watch a movie with a couple of friends? Check.
A mandatory Kinect + constant online access = perfect surveillance tool. Thanks, but no thanks. PC gaming, welcome back.
@Balian86 I'm really tired of this stupid cellphone argument. A smartphone, unlike Kinect, CAN NOT watch my living room (even in the dark), the people I''m with, also it doesn't collect biometrics. And... thankfully, on my phone I can turn off the Wi-Fi before I make a call. A smartphone is not a 24/7 surveillance machine. Kinect is! It doesn't matter is they're using the data for NSA, CIA, or just to charge me more, if I happen to watch a movie with 5+ friends.
