Maybe Sonic Team can pull it off. They seem to be putting a lot of care into this game. I just hope it doesn't reboot the series.
P.S. For those who don't know Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 and Sonic and the Secret Rings have been removed from canon.

[QUOTE="kbaily"]Characters that appear in a single game live on forever in those stupid comics (sorry). The cover of a recent issue had of all chracters Bark and Bean from Sonic the Fighters who the hell cares about those two?

Kbaily, you offend me. I just so happen to love the comics. Get this: The comic series retains Sonic's personality from SatAm, and it actually has a developed plot that's evolved for over fifteen years. (One can only wonder why Sega doesn't hire Ian Flynn to take charge of the in-game storylines.) There's no need to worry about mediocre voice acting, and the cast is huge with tons of character types, which is vital to any comic book series (unlike the games). And Bark's just plain awesome. Nuff said.
I disagree with one of your points, Beardie. If Sonic's games were aimed at a more mature audience, it would be a suicide move for him. There are only two main demographics that actually play his new releases nowadays: Kids, and teenagers who've somehow managed to stick with him. If the games are targeted to an older audience (that is, the "teenagers who've somehow managed to stick with him"), there goes a huge part of the profit audience down the drain.
There are ways to make storylines better without beefing them up with expletives and mature content. The Sonic comic publication is a prime example. I mean, why not base a Sonic game off of the comics? Sega couldn't go wrong there! ^_^
Other than that, I wanna Sonic Riders 3. Without characters yelling each and every time they bounce off of flying debris during a Gravity Dive, without an apocalyptic climax, and with the old voice cast. That would improve the series for me, anyway. 'Kthanksbye.
Okay maybe your right maybe the Sonic series doesn't have to get more mature I would just like the storyline to not be so kiddy. You know take itself more seriously kind of like the comics or the Sonic Adventure series.
I think the Sonic series needs new direction. I think Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood and Sonic Unleashed well be good but I still think the series new direction.
And those are the things I think well make the Sonic series better. Please discuss my ideas and add your own.
